LO-ING-L at all of you. None of you have ever dealt with Bell or Rogers in Canada.
Come north and you'll know what service is really like. |

Australia is the land of crappy, expensive internet. Though, we're rolling out our National Broadband Network over the next few years, which means we'll be able to get 100mbps speeds nearly everywhere.
Currently have 24mbps/1mbps ADSL2+ for $69 a month. |
That's only if the cuntilition don't get in. |

I'm in a similar situation: my speedtest always reads ~19MBPS down .46MBPS up, yet I've never seen download speeds of better than 1.6MBPS (and very rarely anywhere near that high). |

I just don't get why on earth they would even want to stop it from happening. Surely they must understand that it's going to be awesome for the country? Muppets. |

Your download speed is measured in megabits/sec. You were probably reading the actual transfer rate of the download in megabytes/sec. |

Yeah, I'd expect to be able to d/l at about 2mb a second on that kind of connection.
If you are not getting that but your speed test is able to get that kind of speed this means that your connection DEFINITELY is able to achieve that speed.
If the above does apply, then use a download manager. This splits the download into several parts to maximise the bandwidth available to you. I use Flashget, but I'm in a minority, most people seem to use FreeDownloadManager. |
