Your Internet speed.....

I am in the UK. I have a current down speed of 10mbps and 1mbps up. I am upgrading to the latest commonly available technology, and in about a week I will be enjoying 75mbps down and 15mbps up.
This equates to downloading something at 8mb a second, so a high definition 10gb MKV can be downloaded in about 20 minutes, or streamed from the site I download from.
I find this speed mind blowing. I remember being awe struck with my 'broadband' upgrade from dial up back in about 2002, which took me from 32k to 512k.
Apparently the USA is not that fast as many other countries, although I expect that cities are leading the way. I think I read that Switzerland is the leader in terms of average speed for its users, but can't be sure.
So, what do you get, and where are you? |

2mbps, Brazil. I was supposed to get 10mbps a while ago, but the slackers from the phone company say the best cables can't reach my apartment.

Australia is the land of crappy, expensive internet. Though, we're rolling out our National Broadband Network over the next few years, which means we'll be able to get 100mbps speeds nearly everywhere.
Currently have 24mbps/1mbps ADSL2+ for $69 a month. |

Stop whining, I pay fifty American dollars for two lousy mbps, and that's the highest speed available where I live!
(Although, to be honest, my parents have a 6mbps connection for roughly the same price, and they live just a couple of blocks away) |
