| I'm there. Haven't listened to a trance set over 3-4 years. Should be very interesting. I hope he's going to drop that techy Dakota style on those speakers. |

Review of the night!
Got in around 3am, no line up, place was packed. Opening Dj was so bad I never seen such a boring crowd and dance floor at Stereo. Markus came on at 3:45. Started off hard. First hour and half were all tracks from his WMC set in April. After that, played a good 30 minutes of clubbish/mainstream selection of tracks. Finally after 2 hours, started to mix it up and play some prog and some new releases. Between 8 to 10:30, signature "Dakota" style kind of tracks were played, he finally decided to test out MORE new darker/techy/proggy type of tracks. Some obvious cheese and vocal tracks were played now and then to brighten up the set!
Overall, It was a good set. The crowd was loving every minute till the end. He got the place full till 10 which I haven't seen done since Cox played on labor day weekend.
To my taste and expectations, I was hoping for him to start slow and build up from there. I would have preferred him to play all his last few hour(s) stuff in the beginning rather than so late. His style of music really suited Stereo. I recall now there were some random technical difficulties that occured frequently during his set that would make him pause and shrug his shoulders? I can definitely see him return once a year to the temple. His style of music really suits that venue and sound system. |

Unbelievable set by Markus. Loved the progression and there were hardly any misses for the entire 7 hours. There was a lot of mutual love between the crowd and Markus and the guy was good even natured enough to take pictures and autographs after his marathon show without taking any breaks or sitting down. Such a beast.
The night was everything that I expected and more. I sincerely hope that Stereo books him once a year for the same type of extended set event.
Btw the crowd was so good and so much fun. Nobody created any drama and everyone gave each other enough space. It was all about the music and everyone really seemed to appreciate how special that night was.
Thank you Markus and thank you Stereo!
Seany - I did notice that there were around 4-5 sound glitches throughout the night and Markus was visibly shaking his head whenever it happened. Gladly each one was only for a micro-second and did not interfere with the overall flow.
To Stereo - I know that Stereo only books around 4 trance acts a year and with Menno/Markus so far there are 2 slots left. My wishlist is to get John O'Callaghan back and maybe Leon Bolier/Ferry Corsten for the 2nd slot. :) |

Arrived @ the temple around 3:40ish, no line-up quick entrance. Once I got in I could not believe how many peeps were there. The crowed was young and soo many gorgeous girls :O. He started off with a bang and went pretty much the same way trough out the whole set. He had basically a trancy build up and then a techish drop. It sounded very well on those speakers.
I quickly realized that it's no longer my type of music. Was @ Hernan Cattaneo last week, and still can't get over that set :(. Didn't really enjoy after the 3rd hour, the set became way too predictable.
Party was amazing tho, the crowed was LOVING HIM and he was loving the crowed.. I think he spent the whole 7 hours smiling. Was funny to see Paul Oakenfold @ the party. |
