Prescription meds aren't miracle drugs, 99% of the success depends on you

Anxieties
Sometimes we make poor lifestyle choices that are unsatisfactory even in the absence of any mental disorder. There are habits that no drug can treat, and I think many people with and without the disorder(s) du jour go for medication first without working on bad habits.

I wanted Adderall and an Anti-Depressant, nothing else. I thought I knew better than the doctors who said nothing was wrong with me, I exaggerated symptoms, manipulated psychiatrists, and polished my story to get the exact prescription I thought I needed. A month ago, I got it. Finally. I took the pills, thinking my problems were over.

Nothing changed. I never needed them. I only convinced myself that I did. I do not have ADHD. I am not depressed. I am just a lazy procrastinator. All I had to do was get my together.

If I never got the medication, I would have still maintained the ridiculous excuse that I was an untreated case of ADHD and depression and that the doctors were the obstacles to my progress. I would have honestly believed that after all the self-diagnosing I did on the internet. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. My life has been a show for the past few years. Now that I've taken these garbage drugs, I realize how ing stupid and spoiled I was. I regret all the time wasted. I never had an excuse.

So many people out there waiting for a pill to inspire them, to motivate them, to do everything for them and make them a better person. That's not how this works. Your life is in your hands, it's not in a pill.

Yes. I am beginning to realize the potential of poetry. It was never a part of my life until recently.

So you admit to abusing the system for your own personal gain, doping yourself up on controlled substances, and then coming here to preach about drug independence? Ok.

Funny how antibiotics cure bacterial infections, isn't it?

Exactly, it sounds like you purposely broke the law. If you don't have ADHD, you shouldn't be taking Adderall which is an offshoot of a popular street drug named speed, you of course know this. For those with the condition, ADHD Meds(Uppers) coupled with therapy, can indeed improve their well-being.

ADHD medication has not proven effective yet in the long run, so after a while you hit plateau (tolerance) like with all drugs, get educated before you do something stupid. If you just want to get high do crystal meth.

Or how antivirals kill viral infections, or how thromblytics dissolve blood clots that may block your arteries, or proton pump inhibitors to combat GERD (Acid reflux disesase), or bronchodilators to help asthmatics breathe properly...

Right, because if given the choice between a drug manufactured in a clean-environment and one manufactured in Cletus' trailer, I choose trailer every time.

I didn't want these to get high, I foolishly believed I had ADHD. I'm not trying to preach "drug independence" either, I'm just commenting on how easily self-diagnosis can get out of control. When the Adderall didn't slow me down or help me in any way, I realized I was full of .

From first hand experience, I can tell you for sure that a person could easily self-diagnose, then let their life get out of control and use their "disorder" to justify their laziness and irresponsibility. I don't think this is uncommon at all, and it's only going to get worse. I am not special, or unique, this couldn't possibly be a rare or isolated occurrence, don't you agree?

The past few weeks have been a wake up call for me.

Cyberchondria (or cyberchondriasis) refers to the unfounded escalation of concerns about common symptomology based on review of search results and literature online.[1][2] Articles in popular media position cyberchondria anywhere from temporary neurotic excess to adjunct hypochondria. Cyberchondria is a growing concern among many healthcare practitioners as patients can now research any and all symptoms of a rare disease, illness or condition, and manifest a state of medical anxiety.

It's too easy to play psychiatrist on the internet.
