Again, as much as I hate to defend Aoki...

Pack it all up and put it in the back of the "tour bus". For example, the boat, the 6x3 table, the black curtain that has to reach all the way to the floor etc.
:stongue:
Most venues (even the small ones, but we're talking about big venues/festivals here) already have a 6x3 table and skirting for that table in their inventory. Why would you spend an exorbitant amount of money on a bus just to carry something that will already be at your destination? Not only that, but a table and skirting is on practically every DJ's rider, so if you're going to bitch about it here, you'd better be prepared to give your favorite DJ some for it, too. In addition, the promoter can fork over a small amount of cash to rent a boat like that from a local party rental store. The promoters booking Aoki are ones with a much greater cash flow than small venues, and can easily afford everything on that list.
His rider really isn't that strange compared to most, get over it.

Because it doesn't work that way if you are a pop star, rock star, dj....hell even an actor showing up for an interview. It goes with the territory. I've seen a lot of riders from the rock world and even done some gofer work in the past. This is reasonable, trust me. When Madonna shows up its a minumum of 50k in amenities for her crew (granted its a big crew).
They don't pay for anything out of pocket. Its always been that way and always will.

I do think it was silly that they left that in... no need to get him in trouble with cops for the sake of it.

Didn't actually come accross that way at all. Probably just didn't wanna get in legal trouble.

Exactly. I've had to accommodate plenty of riders for DJs that are more underground than Aoki is, and even some of theirs are far more picky/prissy than his is. It's not like his rider is asking for big five-gallon barrels of only blue and red M&Ms, six litres of cola with the labels all facing outward, twelve chicken sandwiches (six with mayo, four with only a teaspoon of mayo and two with no mayo because Buster is a hungry man and will break your jaw if he tastes that white ), three bottles of champagne, three bottles of orange juice, five champagne glasses filled with precisely two-thirds champagne to one-third orange juice, four towels with artist's initials embroidered in the corner, gold-plated sign with artist's name on dressing room door, etc.
I've dealt with that before, Aoki's is nothing.

Didn't Seth Troxler say that when he was on the road with Aoki that the bottle of Grey Goose he chugs from while on stage is actually filled with water?

big star items ?
That list is pretty ing small and conservative. IT is all easy to get, and it really pales in comparison to some riders that are ridiculous. But it is hard to explain it to someone that doesn't have a thing to do with the industry. Never toured , or known anyone that has.
THe rider falls within a percentage of the fee. That is how you do it. If you don't ask for it, you are just losing money that you are entitled to. It isn't like they are asking for some vintage of wine you can't get. I've seen riders with magnums of Yquem that don't exist. They know it doesn't. They expect you to call the tour manager and ask if there is something else that will. Which is how many tour managers use the rider. A way to keep promoters on their feet, a legal buffer in case the promoter is an idiot which most are.
The worst riders are technical ones. Ones that require a certain mixer that is no longer made. Stuff that you can't just send a runner to buy. All these things listed are sold everywhere.
