Gemini PT-2100 vs. PT-2400

Hello,
I'm seriously considering buying a pair of TT's. As I have no money (yet) for Technics, I decided it'll be Gemini (good reviews from friends and on the Internet).
Only thing still to decide: PT-2100 or PT-2400. A friend of mine has a set of PT-2100's, and he is satisfied with them. I read that the PT-2400 has a bit stronger motor. Of course, stronger is always better but is the PT-2400 worth the extra 70 bucks?
Opinions on this, hands-on experience.. Would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance ! |

ive used 2410's and they are great quality
basically
2400s = 2410s
because its just that translucent blue cover
anyway...i'd definetly recommend the 2410s/2400s as a Technics alternative |

The PT-2100, PT-2400 and PT-2410 are all basically the same turntable.
The ONLY difference between the PT-2100 and the PT-2400 is the LCD pitch readout on the PT-2400. Other than that, they are identical. That means the exact same motor, so exactly the same torque etc.
The ONLY difference between the PT-2400 and the PT-2410 is the PT-2410 has a translucent blue-green case and blue LEDs. Apart from that, they are identical.
So, the PT-2410 is basically the same turntable as the PT-2100, only with a transluscent case and an LCD pitch readout. Oh, and more expensive, too.
Don't let anyone try and tell you that the PT-2400 has better torque than the PT-2100, because that ISN'T TRUE. They are THE SAME. |

well, let me tell you that the 2100 & 2400 r NOT indentical, torque is higher , and there r some other things but i cant tell you that in english but since basd is dutch i will tell it in dutch:D
De pt4200 is bijna n exacte kopie van sl1200, ik geef ff n site waar alles duidelijk uitgelegd wordt : http://www.new-line.nl/forum/read.asp?t=246 |

I think you may be correct on this actually. Because the other difference is that the PT-2100 cannot play 78rpm while the PT-2400 can. This may mean that the 2400 can sustain 78rpm while the 2100 can't. OR Gemini just wanted to make some differences and didn't include 78rpm option. But on paper, the torque of 2.2kg/cm and 0.6sec to 33rpm are the specs of both 2100 and 2400.
ALSO, the 2100 DOES NOT have a height adjustable tone arm which is essential to some people.
If i was you, the 2400 would be better value, and would have a better resale value due to the LCD screen which also come VERY useful. The adjustable tone arm height on the 2400 is also very handy. If you have a choice between the 2410 and 2400, the 2410 would be the way to go because in the dark they look better than any other turntable on the market!!!:D |

You oviously have never even seen a pt-2100 before. Idiot.
I have a set of PT-2100's and I have used PT-2400's. These 2 tables are EXACTLY the same, except the 2100 doesnt have 78 rpm, or the stupid digital display.
The PT-2100 does have height adjustment. Ill take a picture and send it to you if you want.
Buy the PT-2100's. |

| between the 2100 and 2400, go with the 2100, save your money, don't buy the 2400s for the crappy lcd display, and the 78rpm setting, cos if you need 78, your DJin the wrong music, a friend has the 2100s, and they are fine, fine just fine, so get them and spend the price difference money on something like records or towards a mixer or carts. |
