This is a good thing, and only a good thing. Mutilating someone's body parts without their consent before they're even able to GIVE it is bull. It's insane that this archaic procedure is still in place and something that is so commonly done simply because people think it's "supposed to be."

The ONLY reason anybody thinks that foreskin is "ugly" is because you're ing trained to think that way because "that's just the way it is." There is no medical validity to doing it anymore, but there WAS hundreds and hundreds of years ago. That's why it was performed back then, but in this day and age it's completely unnecessary. If everyone was uncircumcised and there wasn't a logical (potentially life-saving) reason to cut off the foreskin people would think CIRCUMCISED people had ugly, mutilated dicks.

I find it HILARIOUS that you compare it to a deformity. How the is that even remotely the same? EVERY man is born with foreskin, it's not a deformity, it's how the human body is supposed to be.

And I'm cut.... so I'm not saying this from a biased perspective.

I think parents forcing their babies to become circumcised should be illegal, if you REALLY have a burning desire to mutilate your penis then go to the hospital and get it done later in life.

Do you think abortion should be illegal?

I think it should be illegal, because what gives the parents the right to make decisions like that? Equal rights for all I say.

Please tell me you're not attempting to compare the two...

Well there has yet to be a compelling argument for why circumcision should be illegal, why it's immoral, why it's barbaric, or any of the above quasi-arguments against it.

I was slightly pigeon toed when I was born. Nothing wrong with it. I could have lived my entire life with it and it wouldn't have caused much harm if any. I was put in adjustable braced shoes for a few months after I was born to correct it. While the adjustment was gradual, it did cause a small amount of discomfort/pain.

Were my parents wrong for doing this? Should they have waited until I was older and let me decide if I was okay with being pigeon toed? I'm sure as hell glad that they didn't. Just as I'm sure as hell glad that they had me circumcised.

The point is it's the parent's decision in all of the above cases. Babies don't have the right to make any decision at all. That's why any medical procedure performed on them until they're 18 requires parental consent. There is a reason for this. I'd rather have that nastiness chopped off when I'm too young to remember than when I'm old enough to make the decision myself.

If you think it's so awful, don't do it to your kids. It's pretty simple. I'll still think your kids' cocks are gross. I don't know why you'd be so bothered by that. Regardless of your opinion on it, there really is no objective right or wrong to the matter.

This tirade saying that it should be illegal is just completely absurd.

Not directly. But they're both issues of parents ultimately having the right to make that decision. I think it's a little bit less severe of a decision to have a small amount of skin removed, than to terminate a pregnancy. I don't think you could reasonably be pro-choice yet anti-choice when it comes to parents' rights to have their babies circumcised.

stop talking about my kids' cocks!!!!

I think it should be illegal to have kids. If the child didn't consent to being born then I don't think it's right for the parents to force them to be born.

Infant != fetus.

If the parents think babies without tribal tattoos covering their entire heads are hideous, should that be their right, too? In most cases that would be just as "necessary" as circumcision, i.e. not at all. And after all it's just some temporary pain undergone to avoid the terrible horror of having the untattooed face that nature gave them. If we're going to let parental aesthetics dictate permanent changes to a baby's body, let's go whole hog.
