I know this is from the Huffington Post, but they provide the document right there...
| quote: | Texas Republican Party Calls For Abstinence Only Sex Ed, Corporal Punishment In Schools
...
The position causing the most controversy, however, is the statement that they oppose the teaching of "higher order thinking skills" -- a curriculum which strives to encourage critical thinking -- arguing that it might challenge "student's fixed beliefs" and undermine "parental authority." |

From reading this, I experienced the most total, violent destruction of all the remaining optimism I had for America's future.
Now I understand their nature. What could ever correct this? Even the greatest geniuses genetically possible could never match the sheer, inconceivable force of such stubborn, willful ignorance. Reason will never make the faintest impression upon, let alone penetrate through, the surface of this impossible absurdity that renders any intellect impotent. |

Whats stupid about that? They are changing the policy. Bad policy is reversed. The articles that get me are the ones where they know its bad policy but they blindly stick up for it so as to not lose face. |

Ba ha ha
"the school board was expected to review the policy but would need to seek guidance from state officials and health experts first."
And that's the core of the problem, and it's not exclusive to USA either. People have become to stupid and insecure to be able to wipe their ass without first asking ten different people if their sure it's not gonna rip their apart.
Edit: Oh and America, the land of the free most certainly. |

It's good to know we're still #1 in something. |

| I spent my entire schooling from kindergarten to graduating high school in Texas schools. We definitely already learned about abstinence when I was in high school. In fact I remember very well in 10th grade health class when the teacher asked for the definition of abstinence, being the only one to raise my hand to define it. If I remember correctly we only learned about abstinence, so I don't know what this would change. |
