How do you classify songs?

I would like to add descriptions to my mp3s to help me find songs with certain characteristics quickly. I am planning on adding brief notes to the Comments section in each file's properties (which can be searched through easily using MixMeister or Explorer), but I am not sure which characteristics to include.
If some of you do this already, I would like to know what descriptive words you give to tracks. |

i have a classification system based on genre/sound and type of track.
a deep, techy tribal track would have the code 3.2-B for instance. |

| Key and bpm you should already know if that track is chilled,driving or groovy. What i've done in the usb stick is 2 folders Techno and Tech-House, the techno folder is more deep and hands down stuff but not strictly "techno" while the tech house folder has more tribal and percussive tracks. |

so do i, but imo the best tracks a dj plays are the ones where he's already decided what track to play and when he's digging in the crate to look for it he finds another one and gets "oh oh oh oh yes why didnt i think of that one omgggggzzzz" and then all the girls get wetsy in their panties. |

| I perform a personalized i-ching for each track that I own and then chart that fully next to my track, including the hexagram and six line enumeration. I find it makes my sets glitteringly transcendable. |

I key and BPM tag all my tracks the try to fit them into a genre folder. Note*** sometimes i have to make up genres.

The key and bpm are already in the comments section of all my tracks.
The reason I started this thread is because I have a poor memory for associating song titles with the songs themselves. However, once I hear a few seconds of a song I usually can remember how the rest of the song goes.
I was looking for adjectives that DJs have found useful for categorizing trance and house songs. If I can find some adjectives that work for me it could help me find songs that fit in a particular set more quickly. |

The problem with categorising tracks by genre is you have to pidgeon hole... and e.g. 2 tech house tracks can be so much more different than a tech house track and an appropriate trance track, so you don't really gain a lot.
So adjectives are the way to go, if you're going to insist on something like that. But most adjectives are relative... a track might sound "chunky" at home after listening to some softer stuff, but it might not be anywhere near as "chunky" as some other stuff you're playing in a set.
If you want additional cues to help yourself remember tracks, try sticking the artwork in the sleeve when you burn a CD off (or make sure they're all in Traktor, or however you play) - I find I can draw more of an association between the style of a track and its artwork than I can with its name. |

Visual clues might be helpful. |
