thanks tehlord for your input on this really appreciate it.

Bloody confused now.

Do i just buy a half decent keyboard instead with usb?
tehlord
Well you'll have MIDI sockets with the Saffire, so maybe look at something like a used XP80 on Ebay which has an excellent 76 note keyboard and also a JV10/2080 inside it ;)

Go to your nearest music store and play as many controllers as you can. If you're a pianist, prepare to be disappointed by the quality of the keys on almost every one of them, though. Check out the Arturia hybrid line for some surprisingly nice controllers and soft synth combo.

I like tehlord's recommendation of buying an older Roland (or Kurzweil, Yamaha) synth. The quality is generally heads above the cheap plastic controllers around today.

oh the Arturia Analog Experience THE LABORATORY looks good

Ok what's the difference between the

Focusrite Saffire 6 and 14 pro is it just more inputs and outputs or actual components.

I can pick up the 14 for £10 more.

is it worth doing?

The biggest difference is that the Pro 14 is a Firewire interface, whereas the 6 is USB.

BTW, I'll be interested to see what you decide and how you end up liking your Focusrite, if you decide to go that route. I'm going to be in the market for a 2-channel USB bus-powered interface for mobile recording soon and the Focusrites are at the top of my list.

I'll keep you posted Cryo.

I purchased the Arturia Lab 61 keys for a good price so will also let you know about this.

You haven't said WHY you want a new sound card. what's wrong with your Delta 1010?
clay
id wait for thunderbolt devices.
TyeDynamite
Cryo I'm using the Presonus AudioBox 22VSL. I love it. Works well with the VSL software and low latency feedback for the artist. Just an option to consider thought I'd throw it out there.

Found this thread thinking about soundcards people were using. Curious to know how your purchases turned out?

Apparently it sucks. At least according to Juan Paulino.
I really don't get what the anti m-audio sentiments are all about and I've not seen it outside of TA really, so no real answer. I think someone once said it was because of a lack of THX certification or something? I mean, any problem I've had with my Ap192 has been 100% brought on by the user ie me, and have been easily solvable.

Yeah it sucks! :toothless
