Its been forever ago since I made a mix. This is a warm-up mix for the big mix I have planned to do in the fall. Enjoy! Feedback is always read and appreciated.

This mix appears to merit further inspection. I will report back with my findings.

Looks good, will have a listen.
For a trainspotter like you though, I should point out that FSOL - Pulse State is actually from 1991, and I wouldn't call it trance either. Also, why say 1988 if the oldest track here is from '91?

So I took a listen...
And yeah, any kind of 'critical' feedback just goes out the window with a set like this because my Nostalgia Headphones always find a way onto my ears whenever tunes from that era come up. :p
Really, was curious to see how van Hees fit into this, as I never really thought of him as trance (tho' definitely Balearic, whatever that means), and found plenty of other things about this mix that I enjoyed along the way. Okay, the mixing early on was a bit spotty, but by mid-way through I didn't even notice it anymore; or rather, I did notice, but it was pulled off in such a way that it built anticipation for the upcoming track.

I'm gonna have a listen :)

I was too lazy to double check the years on Discogs - I am not home and not logged in as a result. I am pretty sure I got most of them correct or close :) I suppose its not quite trance, but it sure feels like it. There are definitely a couple tracks in here that are not 100% trance, I added them for variation in this set. So it wouldn't sound all the same.
As for 1988 - thats when the first 'trance' track came out, and since I put "1988" in the title of Part 1 as well, though I have yet to use a track in the mix thats from either 1988 or 1989 :p you got me there!

Really enjoyed this mix, in spite of some rough mixing. The tracks are really amazing, loads of rarities, B sides and forgotten gems here, and it's very obvious that some very deep crates were behind this set. Early on I thought a lot of the tracks were more "trancey" than strictly trance, if that makes sense: a lot of those genre-blurring tracks you used to get back in the early '90s, sitting somewhere between trance, techno, progressive house and ambient. Later on it became much more straightforward genre-wise, and the energy ramped up nicely. Ambition (Lost Mix) was the highlight of the set for me - such a brilliant track, with everything you could want from a trance record.
The mixing was... pretty poor in places. I appreciate that these older records can be extremely difficult to mix, but you could have made more effort to avoid the key clashes that repeatedly cropped up. With that said, even though the transitions themselves weren't always great, the overall flow was good enough to keep me engrossed and eighteen tracks in 81 minutes is good going.

Hey, thanks for the great review. I do indeed suck at mixing, even though I am DJ in local scene (spinning TOP 40, pop, hip-hop, rock) but that stuff is easy to mix. I had a great great mix going on my first recording attempt (in terms of mixing), and it was derailed two-thirds of the way when my cat jumped onto the needle. Second time I didn't like the result, and the third time was OK.
I knew that at least the flow was great. I carefully organized the tracks (yes I could have used different tracks, but I didn't want to substitute anything). Note than BPM started at 108 with the first track, and ended at 135. At least I got something right ... usually with tracklisting I never miss, but thats because I have a considerable music collection (just like you do).
My next mix will have a great improvement in mixing, I hope ... thats because I am working on my greatest mix ever. Months in the making. Something that I always wanted to make. Its for the TA Share Their Classics thread.

My collection doesn't come close to yours. Although I know some of these artists, the only track in this set I'd heard before now was Pulse State. People tend to assume I own/know a lot more than I actually do.
