Overplayed deep 'Crosstown/hot creations' bass lines everywhere!

Oh man, Have you checked beatport in the last couple months? Market is over saturated with those slow deep warped bass lines, and double eighth note rim shot hits.

Its funny to see how the cycle repeats itself. The mau5 prog sound was everywhere in 06/07. The electro thing became the rage for a little while, then tech house, and now this. Producers/DJ's find a unique sound, beat it to pulp and move on to the next thing. It seems most of these phases have a 12-18month lifespan.

Also, BPM's! I wonder if they'll creep back into the upper 120's

Im really curious to see whats around the corner.

Yep. I also wonder what's around the corner. Anyways, I do enjoy teh sound in small doses. Also :haha: @ "rim shots"

I can't wait till they beat techno/prog into the ground. It's already starting to happen imo.

Although I think a resurgence of the trancier/proggier stuff is coming through, i.e. Timewave, Kay-D, Deepsoul Duo, etc.

Only time will tell!

man.. i spent way too long staring at screen wondering if i should rephrase that...

don't get me wrong, I love alot of the aforementioned stuff. Especially when played a little darker. Can't get sick of this:

Ive always wanted the early 2000's prog sound to come back, but its rarity is probably what makes me cherish it. Id hate if that was beaten to death.

I'd argue that only recently has it become so prevalent in the main arteries. 2 years ago everything was tech house. I think the rise of the MLA events parallel what im saying.

In 2010 every producer was trying to spit out a tech house track. This year you've got producers, trying to do the same thing with the bass line/nudisco stuff.

s never been better imo

^Yep. I'm not into the Hot Creations take on it personally, but the low BPM b-line oriented stuff is where it's at imo.

I love deep, tech, etc but I've lost my interest in the scene lately. I rarely go to beatport and dig deep for music. Am I too old? Maybe. Or this scene is saturated in garbage and boring dj's.

I'd actually like to hear the dark slower deep minimal tech make a come back in the scene.

Carola! No trends or fads, plays music that has staying power and doesn't change his style.

Agree!

If theres any music that has staying power its gotta be the techno/techy stuff that Carola/chus/ceballos/lawler etc. tend to play.
