Selma Filali & Eddie Zilker - Smoldering (pg. 4)

if you are talking about the mix, then what about the mix , perhaps in terms that someone that wants to improve the mix could use. You can't which begs the question why the are you here. Why the did you chose this thread to burst your cherry in this forum and why the do you think so little of your friend to have to some how defend something that doesn't need defending. You don't know a ing thing about mixing, about music , harmony , theory , form .... The only ing feedback you can give is a useless, i like. What you like, you can't substantiate so really, everything and anything you could possibly say is just ing wasting time.

And even if you take the worse case scenario regarding my credentials in that I only went to McGill which was established and vetted , which isn't near the truth but whatever, lets just go with that. They still outrank every single ing person on this board. Do a ing search about Mcgill. World renowned, best place in Canada, perhaps best place in NA after about 5 institutions.

so ya. do go back to your ing COR where you can post pictures of cats or what ever bull you do you gangly goth internet superhero.

I love listening to this track. This is right on:

I love the unsynocpated vibe to it. I love how it shifts gears. It's not lacking in direction, it's guiding, and hypnotic. If I can compare it to something in my own tastes, the feel of the music itself is not unlike SP's "Candle" - thoroughly out of sync, yet tugging you on its percussive wavelength:

You bet it's unlike most dub and unlike almost all electronic music you guys listen to. You bet it works; oh, you don't bet it works? Guess maybe you should have gone to Juilliard.

I am sorry that you hate music, Looney4Clooney. Perhaps if you had not constructed such a grandiose personal narrative out of being so involved in it, you could appreciate it, but until then, I fear your personal neuroses will plague your ability to administer even the most remote of constructive feedback. My insincerest sympathies.

How looney are you for Clooney, anyway?

Read the ing thread over. I was rather polite. Asked you what you where doing. Then people started calling it a style which would be a disservice to you. So I called people on that. ...

I don't have the time for this or your other replies. You can disagree with people all you want - do it in this thread, even. I really don't care. The fact of the matter is that your current approach doesn't contribute anything more substantial than what you've already stated.

When you see fit to start contributing more substantially, whether or not you still dislike the song, I'm perfectly amenable to such a conversation.
Looney4Clooney
we aren't having a conversation. I told you what was wrong with it. I don't have enough information to help you out other than for you to start over. We don't have conversations Eddie. At least not when it comes to music. It is a one way flow of information. YOu know that ,, I know that , everyone in the ing production forum knows that , has said it, over and over and over and over. ME talking time to talk about your is a favour i do for you. Now you can get your ing idiot friends from the main forum to defend you, i don't give a fucjk.

This is about music, and there is not one ing person that will say otherwise. There is a reason you suck. There is a reason you haven't improved. And there is a reason, why i sway nice things to others, and sometimes, find only things to say need work. Your has nothing to offer. So how i'm at fault for not lying about the quality of your work, well that is ed.

WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME, LOL

Anyway, I love the track, Eddie. Please keep up the great work - I've listened to previous mixes and have even been witness to previous valid criticism - you are improving as a producer, and I look forward to more tracks that expound the breadth of your ability.

In spite of my congenial manner, your goal has been to shame me for not making a better mix.

I don't think he's trying to shame you, he's just giving you what you asked for. You even said something that suggests you want some critical feedback:

I take full responsibility for any flaws.

Nobody else has said that your track is terrible, but nobody else has really left any practical feedback have they? Even if "terrible" isn't the right word, he's left specific objective concerns and isn't that something you would want?

You could easily prove him wrong by taking him up on his offer, but you don't. You will either A. prove that he's exaggerating things or B. You are as bad as he says you are, but you learn how to mix better. Seems like a win-win to me? The situation is really about proving your ego. If you just want a pat on the back, then maybe don't suggest that you are ready for criticism and only show people that pat you on the back.

Given your expertise, we aren't even having a conversation in the remotest academic sense. I fully get that you're opining from on-high and are interested in little more than making certain your point is made. Even by debate standards, however, this "conversation" falls well short. And I'm not that interested in having a debate.

That certainly seems to be the rationale.

Given the drama (not just in this thread), I'm not inclined to accept any favors.

Thanks, Hal. I appreciate it.

I agree the mix is a bit cluttered and bass overpowering, although the vibe is very nice. You added some breaks and vocals that made for a smooth listen. Tiding the mix would reduce some of the tripy feel, but will tide up the aesthetical look. just my 2 cents.

cheers man.
