It's pretty nice, but the best house record this year is Francis Harris - Leland. Best house record I've heard in a really ing long time.

Specifically the track Leland or the entire album?
I'm smitten with this Black Light Smoke remix:

The entire album. In case you guys don't know know the backstory, here's a bit taken from the RA review - "When Francis Harris started out making the album he eventually named Leland it was going to be a club LP, with similar production aesthetics as his output as Adultnapper. The intended home was Steve Bug's Poker Flat imprint. During this time however, Harris' father's health declined sharply, leading to his eventual death in February 2010. "It became a whole different album," Harris recently told Magnetic Magazine."
House often feels like it lacks thematic substance beyond the usual party aesthetic, so making a house record about death almost seems like an antithesis. Yet it's why this record is so beautiful. It doesn't sound like you'd expect death to sound. Someone who doesn't know about the backstory might even think it's somewhat of an happy record. But the more you listen to it, the more you get pulled in by the bittersweet fog of sorrow on top of it.

This one is my favorite. Although I don't think there's a standout track, really. The whole thing really feels like one piece.

This always happens to me, I honestly don't know much about the people that make the music I like, and I don't really care. I always get called out on like this, mostly because I don't spend much time on RA or researching artists. So you're probably right..

I don't know, whenever I hear someone mention an artist that interests me I always check their Discogs to see what else they've done. Just kind of a habit of mine :p
