It is interesting how TekSavvy can have the same speed as Bell (I know Tek uses Bells lines), but to be over $30 cheaper doesn't make any sense.
Right now the only sane one would be the TekSavvy (300GB) for $52.99/month. It just sucks that they don't allow you to buy an extra 300GB for $10. Seeing my current provider goes through Bell also, but their DSL service has been horrible and they charge an arm and leg for VDSL/Fibe service (almost $10/month more over Bell). |

I know. Hopefully in the next 5-10 years Google will be here (beating the crap out of our telcos). Plus hopefully in the next 5-10 years, 5 Mbps will be gone and the norm will be 25-50 Mbps at $40/month. I know Shaw or Rogers has been testing out their Gigabit service for a year or two now.
It is crazy that Bell charges almost $200/month for their VDSL2/Fibe service (175Mbps). It is interesting to see Bell started using Fibe back in 2006 and 6 years later it is still expensive as hell. At the same time many European countries started using the same technology and the prices are quite reasonable in 2012 (in Europe) |

teksavvy uses rogers lines.
teksavvy's download speeds are good, but their upload bandwidth is crap. If you torrent frequently, or play online games, then the 512kb upload bandwidth might be a bottleneck for you.
I have the teksavvy 300gb package, and both me and my room mate cant run torrents at the same time, or else our net slows right down.
If you dont game or torrent much, you'll be fine. |

I don't game, my brother does and as for torrents haven't touched that stuff since finding direct links for downloads (via netload.in) |

Teksavvy uses both actually. Their cable packages use Rogers' infrastructure and their DSL options use Bell's equipment.
Rates are definitely an advantage. And their tech support is super helpful too. |

This is the case for almost all the smaller guys. Cable is through Rogers and DSL through Bell since those are the only ones with infrastructure in place. Telus/Bell has invested tons in laying fiber optics as well, not sure if the government subsidized that but if they did then I'd imagine they'll be forced to rent it out to 3rd parties as well.

This. Cheaper than Teksavvy and unlimited bandwidth on all packages last time I checked. If you're not so tech inclined than Teksavvy could be worth the extra couple bucks as their support beats Acanac for sure. |

I'm with Teksavvy - no complaints, I'd recommend it
you can use me as a referral too :P :P |

I too am looking at the 25/7 service from Teksavvy.
I have given up on Acanac after more than 5 years with them. They sold me a modem that did not allow me to get the full speed I was paying for. Then after going through trouble shooting, they told me it was a known problem, and that I had to buy a new modem, even though they knowingly sold me a modem that was too slow.
That, combined with a few other really bad business practices...I'm done. I just hope I can get the 25/7 service from Teksavvy at my new apt.
Also, I'd go with the 300GB option, because traffic between 2am and 8am isn't counted against your allotment. Schedule that . |

Not rogers! They have been reprimanded for throttling game traffic, with their p2p traffic shaping, and basically not giving a .
Acanac's peering is , so I would say, you might experience higher latency with them. |
