Some I can think of.
When I was 14, family went to Montreal for vavaction and was at the museum of science. Ran into a girl I knew from school with her family there as well. We are all from Suburbs of NYC.
Recently HS friend who I did not talk to since HS(12 years ago!) but are facebook friends if that even counts, ran into at a wedding last month. He knew the bride via college and I knew the groosmen from college friends but I did know them as a couple. When we saw each other it was a nice update.
One more..When I went to Cancun in College did run into some HS friends on night. PS was a great week to go! Weather and girls and drinks! I miss 2001 |

I hear that researchers have come up with some sort of mathematical explanation for why "random encounters" occur; why you end up running into someone when you've been thinking about them; why a song that's been stuck in your head just happens to beon the radio when you turn it on etc... Maybe Lagrangian can back me up on this one. |
I think it is because one doesn't think about all the misses and only the times the thought and the event allign. |

Yes, I have run into people on many vacations too. But only when it is a popular destination. The reason is not that spectacular if you think about it. People from a local area will be on vacation at the same time because they are in the same schools, colleges and businesses. And their are a limited number of -popular- tourist destinations. Plus, everyone probably recognizes several thousand people from their local area. So if out of 5,000 people you know of (might just have 'seen them around'), 1% went to Cancun (which is a very well known tourist destination), then you would be in the same vicinity as 50 people you know/ know their name.
Go to the Amazon basin next vacation and you won't see anyone you know. Go to Disneyland, and you will surely see someone. |

I wouldn't be surprised, and you may well know the names of 5000 people. Of course, you can't retrieve all the names from your memory at once, but you can probably remember the name of thousands of workmates, classmates, among other acquaintances you met in your lifetime, if you see them in front of you. |

It was a deer in headlights moment for sure. I walked to the bathroom to make sure it was you, was sure it was you, then drunkingly decided that the odds were so far out while in the bathroom. Then I was like :wtf: |

| If I ever spotted Nou during a meal, I'd take my shirt off and give him a hug. Now THAT would be awkward! |
