new music in this case = pop edm & dubstep

So yes, this statement could be true

I do think that it is, at best, disingenuous when someone says all EDM is crap or all EDM is boring, because it's simply not true. I don't know why I'm so staunch, I guess just really love EDM. I never stick to the same genre for too long; how could you? there is so much good music out there to experience that isn't trance or techno.

Exactly. Most of you may know me as a commercial DJ, but outside my DJ life, I listen to all sorts of EDM but commercial. Just today, I've been doing research the entire day on the history of house music. I've been listening to some awesome 80's house & 80's acid. And just yesterday, I was reading up and listening to the history of Richie Hawtin.

There's sooooooooooo much really good music out there, that to say all of EDM sucks is a big injustice. If you don't like something, keep digging. Eventually you'll find your likings again.

ARMIN VAN BUUREN
MAKRUS SCHULZ
FERRY CORSTEN
DASH BERLIN
GARETH EMERY
TRITONAL
COSMIC GATE
W&W
JOCHEN MILLER

Same old names for every big-name massive festival. To me it just feels like the companies get comfortable booking the same names over and over, work out a deal/establish a relationship with them, and can in turn book them for much cheaper.

Its too much work and too much of a risk to book someone new and different.

I don't see what's wrong with that line up? Another thing, why is there so much hate towards Armin on this site?

i wouldn't say there is a lot of hate but more disappointment. I think a lot of people still love him (not me, trance) but he's changed over the years. I can't stand his music but have a lot of respect for him. Some good Spundae LA parties that he played at.

but then... i don't know .

Pretty much. They're whats hot at the moment

EDC 2000 Main Room line up was-

Freestylers
DJ DAN
Simply Jeff
Bad Boy Bill
Scott Henry
Jason Blakemore
DJ Reza
Jonathan Greathouse

None of these guys could headline EDC today.

Trends change and 10 years from now you will see a group of the same people headlining EDC 2022 and people will bitch about how all the same DJ's are booked and what happened to the good old days of Armin and Gareth.

This thread is ridiculous. If you live in LA there is so much good music it is unreal. Every weekend there are multiple parties with amazing djs. Get outside of your box and go to undergrounds or pool parties at the Standard or elsewhere. Stop going to Avalon and MNS. These events do book big commercial garbage and do because they make a load of money. If I owned Avalon I would do the same thing. It's a business.

If you can't find new good music it is because you are listening to old worn out djs. Music is evolving constantly and you might not like the newest style but you can always find what you like if you know what your looking for.

I agree with this. Exactly what I was trying to say.
