epic, yet restrained masterpiece of trance, amazing soundscape. packs something that modern trance lacks: class.
old lange looks on in disgust at new lange.

I wish this old school fast hard techno wasnt completely lost on me, but it is.

Needs to be heard in a club, quite simply.

with enough methamphetamines to kill a goat, and the goat of her mother. hard tech was great back in the day. preach as a resident (he killed his career by signing to black hole and moving to trance instead of techno), a bunch of insane 140bpm + acts with no arpeggios , it is still to this day my funnest era of clubbing. fit as , and the minges were too. 12 hours of scooby snacks and fist pumps. think tenaglia...he does 24 hour sets. compress that in half. without drugs though hard tech is impossibru. it isn't home listening material. just like trance.

The drugs help, of course, because the music is so pounding and relentless more sober souls will run out of energy quickly (and don't give me any of these bull "I partied for 12 hours just drinking water and reading the word of the Lord" stories - not to hard techno, you didn't), but all you need to do is step into a grimey industrial space with a ninja sound system and hear one of those '90s techno records played loud. I guarantee there will be an "Aaaaaaah" moment.

i did 23 hours of tenaglia once. while not quite as awesome as a shorter hard tech night (speedy j to this day played a 4 hour live set that remains my best "rave" night of all time.). jesus, i was on enough pills to make even trance acceptable. they didn't play any thank .

Shrug, I danced to high energy music way before I did any drugs. I certainly don't think they're necassary (it makes dancing for over 2-3 hours much easier though) but they do push the music at events that feature them in the higher energy direction.
A nice vibe, lots of dancers and a great sound system is certainly one of the best ways to get into a new genre of music though. At the very least the lighting (as in how dark it is) can affect how much you appreciate different genres.
Also, is it just me or are sound systems at warehouse parties/raves usually way way better than the sound systems at clubs? To me most clubs seem to just be set up to sell alcohol and do I dunno what the else. They usually don't care about the music.

you haven't done any drugs yet....i'm only going by your backpedals.
doing drugs are not something to be proud of, so your young inexperienced ass just can shut up. unless you want to be ben.

I disagree, but seriously, start a new thread in chill out room on that subject?

Yeah, so did I. It's just not as much fun. I don't know why anyone would pretend otherwise.

There's a lot to be said that it pushes music in a certain direction. Gimmicky crap like electro house sounds good while drunk, high tempo stuff sounds good on most drugs like e, acid, shrooms speed etc. It's certainly possible to enjoy practically anything while drunk/sober/on most things but certain things are more suited for certain states. I dunno, "drugs+music" probably needs a new thread. I'd love it if you started one though if you can't be bothered I will but I tend to be not so good at writing long stuff about complicated subjects.
