Most of the gay party crowd here in L.A. hasn't heard of David Morales. It's depressing. They wouldn't have heard of the bulk of the B&B line-up either. They think Paulo is the biggest DJ booked there this year and he's not even playing the main event.

You got me thinking that maybe I'm way off here. Admittedly I was making a generalization, but I did say "most" not "all". So as I'm not able to conduct an accurate poll while at home, I went to David Morales' Facebook page. Out of the 534 friends of mine (at least 400 are gay), only 2 people are fans of Morales, and only one of them is gay. The last time I saw Morales in LA, there appeared to be about 6 other gays in the crowd.
Sure, I do know a few gay men who know Morales but they are generally the ones who frequent "straight" house clubs. I can tell you from the conversations I've had with the circuit crowd here that *most* of them have not heard of Morales (nor Roger Sanchez, Danny Krivit, Frankie Knuckles, Tony Powell, etc.). Yes, some will know him for his pop diva remixes, but it's a small minority). The most famous old school Chicago house DJ that they know is Ralphi Rosario, but they don't know his history (Hot MIx Five) or the music that made him famous. They think of him as a circuit DJ, one half of Rosabel.
