I agree the sound was lacking, but for all we know that's a bylaw thing and not simply an oversight from the promoters.
Music wise, not really my preferred style, but I thought it was decent. Matthew Dear had the best set for me. Lee Foss was kinda generic imo.
That venue is an absolute gem. Right downtown, on the water, awesome backdrop with the ship on the west and the lake just south. It really can't get any better. The washroom situation was completely tolerable, it was quick getting in, easy enough to get drinks and food, and I didn't even notice security all day. For what it was, the crowd was pretty much the best you could hope for as well. Also, kudos for the copious amounts of swag everywhere, certainly adds to the party.
Looking forward to more events going on there, but I hope its selective, I'd hate for that spot to get played out.

I couldnt get in the groove because the sound was sooo lacking. Why turn it up a notch only when Matthew Dear was playing?
Matthew Dear was awesome and in the groove.
The rest .... was average
Pretty much the same for me. I had a really hard time getting into to things. Matthew Dear saved the party for me - awesome set :)
Silky Johnson
Agreed about Matthew Dear. My fave of the day as well, along with Pat Mahoney. Quite disappointed with Juan Maclean...pretty uninspired stuff - was expecting more. Overall an awesome party though, great peeps, great venue, lovely vibe. And boy did we get blessed with awesome weather!

Same here, I love the venue and a great effort by all promoters to promote this great line-up, but compared to Sound In Motion fest, this party lacked both in crowd and music/sound quality, which is really unfortunate.
I'm pretty sure we heard some crackling highs at some point, and the sound wasn't eq'd properly.
But to be fair for $20-$25 this was a great party, just disappointed by the sound.

but the noise police was watching us so we had to play fair.
:( what are the restrictions for that location?
The sound got louder at Matthew Dear...which is when I'd expect to become lower (like at The Martinez Brothers @ Sunnyside).
The location is awesome...but having to compromise on the sound is a big turn off for me
The parking @ loblaws....$30....what a ripoff (i went further instead)

This party was great, amazing vibe, eye candy all over, weather rocked, Matthew Dear's set was amazing, Lee Foss' was ok, Soul clap were all over the place (no mixing really either). But I had fun. Ran into a billion people I knew and some I just met. We need more like this. Yes the sound was bad but this isn't Europe or nothern ontario where you can blast it. Damned noise bylaws...
The Highroller
I guess the problem is that they probably have events at Sugar Beach every week, so it isn't really fair to the people who live around there to have blasting music all day Saturday every week.
Also, Pat Mahoney played the best set during the day, and Juan McLean was pretty disappointing. Lee Foss played some good stuff, but the last 30 mins of his set was generic.

tbh i don't think they do that many events there. the odd showcase with an artist from edge 102.1 but even those are only a couple tunes each and they take place in the early evening afaik

Yup! A great crowd came out for this and I hope to see more parties at this venue... perfect size as well.

we had to operate at 85 db at 60feet of main speakers
thats the bylaw for that area.
we decided to push harder at night.
If you know anything about sound. that's not that loud. but its okay.
Regardless we didnt want to piss anyone off. as that would result in
us not getting to use that spot again for next year.
