Unicorns on Vinyl – a classic trance mix. Done the good ol-fashioned away… using two turntables, a mixer, and a pair of headphones. An imperfect mix of chair-rave material just for you.
What do you get when you combine some coffee, a few beers, a free night and a crate of your buddy’s old records that he left in your garage? No, not just bad breath… a brand new mix of classic trance records. :)
Yeah, this one’s a stray from my usual slower/deeper dance music… a full foray into the type of music that originally got me into this whole so-called “EDM” thing. I don’t take this mix too seriously and neither should you… just having some fun. Give it a listen… maybe you’ll enjoy it!

Awesome :) Like I said, the transitions aren't razor-sharp (been spending too much time mixing digitally lately!) but I don't think they're too horrendous.
Probably the next one will be a classic / dark prog mix. Just got a new shipment in from Discogs. :) |

Ah, this mix made me feel nostalgic. It's been feeling very autumnal for the last couple of days, and autumn is always a season that inspires massive nostalgia in me. Listening to this mix this evening took me right back to 2002 and walking around with my Walkman listening to mixtapes of trance I'd painstakingly ripped from compilations. There are a couple of tracks here that were on some of the very first mix compilations I bought, but you also managed to find a lot of lesser known tracks that still have that early-00s trance sound.
Obviously, this feels very much like a light-hearted jam and so there's no point critiquing it too closely. The mixing is pretty rough at times, but you already knew that and there are no outright wrecks that ruin the flow, just some minor errors you keep under control. The only track I didn't like was VIP - Ibiza. The rest provided a slightly deeper and more obscure retrospective of an era that got most of us around these parts into dance music. |
