tb quite honest..never really kept up to date with electro house being produced because I very seldom incorporate any in my sets or even for casual listening. But I can vouch that Wolfgang Gartner had a great set which matters more than how good his new productions are to me.

Yeah, that's the thing. Standard electro house (Well at least whats considered electro house today) is, terrible
To sound acceptable it has to be mixed into another genre (imo). For example, complextro is completely kick ass and isnt depressing to listen to. Like, wolfgang gartner for example. And also lazy rich (Another completely kick ass producer, check him out)
Also, electroclash/ indietronica are two electro house influenced genres that dont suck. Make sure to check out justice, MGMT, Soulwax etc

I always get a bit bitter when I think back to the second wave which was such a promising period for Dutch house. I saw the rise and fall of it myself.
It started back in 2006 when someone on a forum tipped me this album. At a time when I was getting vastly disillusioned by the house scene, it sounded amazingly fresh.
But it wasn't just that, it was one of those rare albums which you could have anyone take a listen to and they all just ing loved it, no matter what musical background they came from. And they're parents would like it too.
No surprise that a few days after i got the album "put your hands up for detroid" made it into the hit list and the sneakerz parties - originally created as a concept to help young and upcoming DJ talent by having them 'sneak' into the main timeslots and having the big acts open up for them rather then the other way around - exploded in popularity.
You really got that vibe of being part of something big.
Unfortunately it didn't take long before the hacks took over, and the musical soul and Latin influences were buried in favour of continuing the wonky experimentalism, which then became the main theme.
Still have good memories of the parties though.

I think the one thing it showed me, is that when you take the musicality out of house. You end up with stupefied techno.

Mainstream electro house is horrible. Its not just that I dont like it, it actually makes me angry lol.
