if your worried then u might get the i7 procesors instead, those have HD4000 grsphicd instead of HD2500 in the i5. But if you wait a week or so i can tell you how the i5 works without a graphic card. i orderered the i5 3450S (S for low power usage - less heat). what ive read is that the HD2500 works for some games but not all. But for HD video no problem, and therefore also good enough for production on a 1920 screen. But ill let yo know.

Yeah a review on the i5 with no graphics would be awesome. I'm not into PC gaming so I'm thinking an i5 is all I need for producing.

Ah, with updated iMac, Mac Pro, Mini models just about any time soon, you are going to be slapping your forehead.

Don't you guys read MacRumors?

http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/

You don't even have Thunderbolt or USB 3 in the Mac Pro.

I would have went with a PC though.

that only matters if you are poor

so my 2009 mac pro is being weird. Logic board is like 1000. It works like 2 weeks then does weird . 1 day to get it back up. Mentioned this problem like 6 months ago. It has happened 3 times. 2 day down time each time. I'm fed up.

I'm thinking of getting 2 x 27 inch imacs. Should i wait ? Not knowing when something will stop working is so stressful. And i don't think it is worth risking 1000 on the logic board. Kinda sucks.

And you definitely want to stay with mac??? - I know that you have a lot of invest in this OS (I mean all of additional software for this OS) but is there any chance??

$1000 only matters when you are poor.

Anyway, have you ruled out the hard drive?

The first top-of-the line Mac I purchased ($5000+) also needed the logic board replacing but it happened within 12 months so I only had to pay for labor. This Mac also had the dreaded IBM deathstar hard drive, which I believe was the cause of the logic board dying.

The next Mac I purchased which was an iMac has also had a failed internal hard drive. I replaced the hard drive myself. I can hear the second one is on its last legs as it whines more than normal, but it's lasted 3 years. I blame the cramped electronics and lack of ventilation.

Macs are only great if you are willing to pay for additional Apple Care Warranty so that repairs don't cost much.

its just what i know. I don't have the time to build a system, learn windows again.

I don't know, the thing is that i can't have just one. It is a symetry thing. But i have a 2010 mac pro i'm using right now as my main. But i want that as a server for VSL ensemble. I suppose a pc would work for the server.

But then the idea of 4 thunderbolt connections sounds .

Sounds far enough man, I was just asking ...... - we build our own PC like two years ago and never have any problem with, never went above 40~50% on processor load in ableton it is working as smooth as baby ass ;)

Cheers
