good idea :p
I swear that once the bottles and models took over the music has gotten really really bad. Guys will spend freely once the heels and attention-bags are hovering around and it's too bad those girls like radio fluff. It all revolves around heels and attention bags |

can pretty much guarantee it will be SHM ( 1 guy ) in small print
even on a weekday with a sponsor and a rider that guarantees quebec women will pretend they are able, actually i don't even know the venue in question but the numbers don't work. |

in regards to the comment about women,
the problem with these type of artists is that they aren't really viewed as artists but as names that elicit a certain hype. It has nothing to do with the music. I would say most of the people listening to their music are males. Most of the females that go are going because it is an event.
And this is why you get people that are more into the aspect of being somewhere cool despite the fact it isn't cool at least not in montreal. The crowd will be mostly male like always. The models will not be there at least not in montreal.
I remember a friend's band , pretty big emo band, playing in montreal and the crowd was 50% men 50% women. Granted they were young but i was astounded by the ratio and the excitement and overall joy that seem to be shared. People there because they liked the music, connected to a band and felt part of something.
The problem with the dance scene is that they are just awful at marketing actual artists and do everything they can to turn it into a douche bag corporate sponsored american spring break but all year idiot fest.
So the crowd you get is not so unexpected. Real people that go out to have a good time and feel part of something require more. Until you have that, it is and will be a bar event and like all bar events, you will get more guys and when you have to fill out a really big bar and ticketed events, it will be a massive sausage fest.
The idea of being part of something is also something that tends to bring a healthier crowd in terms of ratio. For example , the rave scene when it was a scene was 50%. The after hour clubs have not managed to make it a scene and as such, it follows the same sort of model as a club. Not that you would want a scene focuses around drugs as it will come and go like scenes do but at least in this instance, you can sell what clubs sell with a twist and get the numbers avoid the sausage fest. I mean a straight sausage fest. Few things more vile than a bunch of guys that can't dance on speed trying to out fistpump the other guys for the attention of the 20 or so girls that all have boyfriends.
I'm generalizing but ya, SHM is not a female thing. |

I agree
what I was whining about :p is that it 'revolves' around women, 'it' meaning the shift to more fluff music.
Great article on Marquee, Vegas if I can find it, pretty much sums up the commercial part of the edm industry. Play the music that the chix will dance to, guys will go to those types of events to pick up, dance with, look at etc and they will buy bs (bottle service) to woo them, etc. Not all of the industry is bottle service but the prominent shift resulting in more sponsors and shrinking dancefloors, bigger vips is byproduct of it.
I cynically said earlier the shift revolves around bottles and models but it is the kind of 'safe' music that 'works' more in clubs, big parties, attracting a bigger swath of paying customer, including 'higher end' chicks with bad taste in music.. and there happens to be a lot more of those than the opposite.
/failed and jaded psuedo clubber :p |

| What I'd love to see is a scientific study that links this kind of music with lower levels of intelligence. |
