When US makes up its mind, it's going to happen, with the world's support or approval or without - it doesn't make a difference to them.

Just don't plan your winter vacation in Iraq...

it makes me a bit angry to see the US walk around like King and dicate how the world should be run. the world was around long before these mof's and will continue to revolve once they have left.

today's empires, tomorrow's ashes. amen.

Well, noow that Iraq is allowing UN inspections into the without stipulations means that they are not hiding any weapons of mass destruction. And lets just hope that they find nothing so it just proves that the US was wrong all the time. Look at Canada, and the rest of the world, hardly anyone is supporting their cause for the war against Iraq, and why? because of the fact that not enough hard evidence against Iraq. The thing that really pisses me off though is that whole thing about Bush saying that Muslims are peacefull people, but eversince 9/11 he has done nothing but attack muslim people. What about the three Muslim student who were on their way to the hospital and said some things in their own language and some bitch claimed that they said some about 9/11. What the is that. To me, the US just keeps blaming others when they should be blaming themselves. The Demon has spoke.

a lot of what is said here if just wrong. as for america being a bully wakened by 9/11, trust me, they knew of the terror factor long b4 that. american embassies and establishments have often been targets of rejects like bin laden. the fact that it happened on US soil is what alarmed the people of our southern neighbor.

but hey, the world would do just fine without such a horrible and igotistical superpower right? WRONG. the US supports the world. whose economy do you think the whole fuking planet depends on? who supports small nations and underpriveledged regions with money and materials? america might have its own interests in the gulf (OIL), but don't you think that part of the rational behind us action is streamed toward compation for people? saddam kills his own women and children...israel is constantly attacked by the un-educated and the brainwashed. dont you think that the millions of kids in the middle east would be better off learning about science and economics instead of where to stand in a room to kill as many schoolchildren as possible with the bomb strapped to their chest?

people often criticize americans for comming in and intruding on smaller nations. telling them how to run their government. they are hated because of this. YOU GUYS hate them because of this. all they are doing is helping.

they have sent troops to the Phillipines (sp?) to combat a terror group that has gathered tens of millions of dollars through the kidnapping to tourists, they have helped diplomatically ease the conflict in ireland, they have supported everything that has had even a tint of democratic and humanistic spirit. they arnt all that bad.

canadians are pissed because the US doesnt really care about their support. but the thing is...canadas suport doesnt really matter in an international sense. canada is not needed for anything besides herb and thats pretty much a known fact. but maybe we're better off that way. americans are needed everywhere to help people and countries survive. and they are hated globally.

Amen to Oceanlab. I don't understand how people can say that George Bush has policies that attack muslims. Let's look at the fact: All the terrorists are muslim extremists, so naturally, precautions have to be taken against all the muslims that are suspected. Before Sept. 11, these Al-Queda members were able to infiltrate American society and orchestrate a terrorist attack of enourmous magnitude completely un-obstructed. In a post Sept. 11 world, if some of those civil liberties have to be taken away from muslims who are deemed a threat, then so be it. It's all for the greater good. And it's no wonder that no one in world politics takes Canada seriously. One thing, our economy is insignificant, but did anyone hear the speach that Jean Chretien gave where he criticized Western Nations for their arrogance and greed as the cause of 3rd world poverty? Billions and billions of dollars a year are sent in foreign aid to poor nations from richer nations like Canada and the US and low and behold all that money is absorbed by the tyrannical regimes that run these countries whether it be in Iraq or Zimbabwe (and the people still starve). Then, as soon as the US makes any mention of regime changes in these places, they are lambasted. Why? Because it's seen as putting their foot in other people's business? NOt to say that the US can not have it's own gain in mind regarding all foriegn policy, but we can't forget that the US wants to help other countries aswell. I think that as Canadians we need to spend more time criticising our own Federal government and Prime Minister who seems to be allowed to shoot his mouth off about anything, no matter how little sense it makes. I think he's worse than bush and an embarressment to our country.

i wish i could express my point of view clearly, but i dont want to unnessecarily raise any anger.

the above tunnel vision ideas are pretty disturbing

the only reason y i dont support them is because i HAVE LIVED IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND BEEN TO MANY OTHER PARTS OF ASIA AND KNOW WHAT REALLY GOES ON.

now are u gonna call me a muslim extremist without knowing who or what im about???

im not siding anyone in this debate but the debate originally started with the hype over 9-11....

this world has become too materialistic and people should look within themselves first before pointing any fingers....
Avenjah
seriously, it was only a matter of time

Nah i don't believe the US has ANY ANY ANY sincere intentions on making the world a better place. Everything they do, and everything they involve themselves in, is for their own interests. I mean everything. If for some reason they appear sincere, it's all about public relations. Look at what went on in Rwanda ...wars in Sierra Leonne ...elsewhere too ...what did the US do ??? Not much. Why were they in Yugoslavia ??? Because they were protecting the world from a tyrant ??? Ya right. It was for their own interests ...they want a stable Europe for their economy ...they don't care what goes on in africa because they have nothing to offer ...and in the countries they do "help", don't think they're not getting a huge share of the profits (eg ...capital intensive work like mining). Their presence in the Gulf ...well that's obvious. Israel getting attacked by the uneducated ??? New York getting attacked by the uneducated ??? Ya right ...most suicide bombers are university students and graduates ...even the 9/11 attackers. Why did the US help Japan after the 2nd world war ??? Because they felt sorry for what they did. Nope...to ensure there was a symbol of Capitalist success amidst Communist countries and the Cold War. The point is ...the US does things for their own interests ...and that means staying on top. It's only a matter of time before they get dethroned, it's inevitable ...no great empire in history lasted forever ...nothing's forever ...that's what scares the US. It doesn't matter that the world economy revolves around the US at all ...they've made it like that, and don't want rivals ...and they'll do anything to keep it that way. That doesn't justify the attacks ...but it makes me care A LOT LESS.
