What I said looks nothing like a fanboy sortof post though. If I was going to be fanboy I'd be posting heaps and heaps about how everything else is and why and why psytrance is so awesome(note there's a difference between saying why I like it and why psy heads like it and just blanket saying it's awesome). You however have made posts FAR closer to this than I have so don't be a hypocrite.
Also, there's plenty of 30 year olds who are real s about music, while it's immature at any age "the playground" is a bit of an exagguration.
How about you not treat MD like your playground? I don't believe anyone else has been getting pissed off at my posts apart from you.

Sorry to say but TA isn't a video call, you don't know what mood I'm in when I make my posts. "Frantic" is most definitely inaccurate.
My posts tend to be excessively long, as does my typing in IM conversations. People tend to assume that the amount I type about something has to do with how angry I am/how much I care. I'd be perfectly happy to write really long posts debating favourite colours with people and they wouldn't look that much different to stuff in this thread.
Regardless, I'm sick of this. System-J can't stay civil and most posts between me and him in this thread are pretty pointless anyway. I'll chime in if anyone wants any recommendations or if there's an interesting topic brought up but that's it.

Just getting into psy (late I know). Aside from John 00 Fleming I haven't been exposed to much of the genre although there are a some real gems posted in here. Looks like Beatport is going to be taking some more of my money.

I listen to goa/psy trance since 1996.
I always found this sub-style of trance music more interesting.
Why? Maybe because I listened much less of it than generic trance music.
What I like the most within the sounds of goa trance (progressive, fullon, dark/forest/killer) is the basslines and the strong usage of acid effects which reminds me of the better hard trance tracks.
I prefer fullon & dark goa due to it's unlimited energies and dynamics.
The crowd is also different: trance vs. psytrance
People's motivation at a generic trance party is mostly about how to dress and more importantly: just being at the party, no matter what music will be played.
Psytrance lovers dress without any preference, but feeling comfortable and they attend to parties because of their love for this music, not just to show you are there....
I think these 2 things are the most notable differences and this is the reason why I still value the psyscene more than the "usual" trance community.

Interesting. This is absolutely not the case in the UK
At a typical trance night (Godskitchen etc) you find all kinds of people and absolutely no dress code. Yea a lot of them are idiots, but no higher proportion than in any other demographic. Lot's of really nice people too! And I would say the vast majority of the people there go simply because they enjoy the music. I may think their tastes are a little immature due to me being a miserable chin stroking twat these days. It certainly doesn't mean they aren't getting as much enjoyment out of it as I do when I go to a night I really like.
By contrast, at Psy nights most people haven't got a ing clue what's going on. They are there because they like to dress up like hippies and take acid.

Well it was meant to be offensive because a lot of people think they can make psytrance but not everyone is good at making a good track. It is also realistic viewpoint of how things are today. It is how we saw with uplifting trance. We saw a bunch of morons who thought they could produce uplifting trance but look what happened?
I don't mind seeing new producers. Infact, I always look for new producers when it comes to music. However, there are a lot of people who jump the trend and start making music without putting in the time and effort to learn the technical aspects of the genre.

I don't hate uplifting trance. Infact a lot of my favourite tunes from 2003-2006 were uplifting, but many who do produce this style of music often just sound plain bad and don't sound right.This is also the case with progressive house tunes too and pretty much all styles of EDM.
One recommendation I would like to give learn the genre extensively before you start making it. Not just listening to it but breaking it apart and dig deep onto what makes it unique.
It is also the fact that you cannot apply the knowledge you've gained from making house to trance and vise-versa because they are two completely different styles.
It has nothing to do with "taste" but the fact that those who move or start producing need to LEARN the basics first. I don't view music on taste basis because, I like most style of music but I view at a technical level(Melody,percussion,the sounds used etc...)When someone lacks the technical knowledge, your imagination will only carry you so far until you have to learn technical knowledge. You'll waste a lot of time in trying to make things sound right.If you don't know how things work,your music will sound no matter how much time you put into it. With technical knowledge combined with your imagination, you'll be able to reach the far end of the cosmos...
You may get lucky but there will come a time where you'll just produce generic if you do lack basic music theory and technical knowledge.
I think people get it wrong because of the lack of technical knowledge. That to me is the very reason why many don't get it right.
