My 2012 budget from what I recall:
$700 - Event tickets
$220 - Airfare
$350 - Room
Then I think I spent around $100 per day or so whilst down in Miami. Avoided drinking like a sailor as that can add up real quick.
So I spent around $1800 or so total for everything. Went to like 13 different events from Wednesday through Monday which was a record for me as I usually just go to 1 or 2 parties a day at the most. |

Thanks for the info on this thread. Very helpful for a Miami newb this coming 2013! Glad my hotel is about half a mile from Mansion and a few other clubs - save on cab fare.
Can someone elaborate on this $2 bus I hear about? Thanks! :) |

The bus is $2. It goes up and down Collins (the main drag) of South Beach. It's good for getting around during the day from hotel to parties, if you're staying on the strip.
I don't think staying downtown is worth saving cab far, unless you don't plan on doing anything during the day. |

i took the bus back in 2010 to go to space one night from south beach. all i have to say is that if you think nyc transit is bad you clearly havent rode miami's. grimey as hell
i cant say for the daytime tho maybe it is actually filled with somewhat "normal" people
the cab is more $ but i think a cab is alot safer, just split it with a few friends and it wont be as bad |

| The day time buses that go up and down SOBE are actually nice, Very new. But expect to get close to a lot of old people. I had some 120 year old lady whose skin was nearly falling off grab onto my arm to catch her self. I couldn't shake the scent of moth bolls for hours. |

i wish i could say i had the same luck but unfortunately
my bus was filled with junkies, hookers, homeless people and a guy who came on the bus and told the bus driver "i dont got no money but i got some potato salad can i pay with that?"

Interesting. I rode it the last two years and it was nicer than a NYC bus. Only south beach and only during the day.
The cabbies are ing s, ****s and crooks. |

| Yup, the cabbies will try to rob you blind if you aren't paying attention. Have had a few attempt to take me on a scenic route thinking I was a n00b so they could rack up the fare. I usually book my place to stay somewhere between the 12th to 22nd block of Collins in the sweet spot for all the day time parties. Cab far is usually around $15-18 from this spot to go over the causeway and to Space or Ultra. I have rode the bus in the past to get to downtown at night and back if I am the only one in my group going at that point. If you are trying to pinch pennies you can go this route. When the WMC thread appears I am sure one of us will repost the bus routes. |

| I wasn't expecting the cab drivers to be such s. I don't think I had a single driver who didn't try to rip me off or tell me "I don't feel like going there/I don't know where that is" and I was only going back and forth from south beach. |

thats the best location to book it for sure. all the day parties, beach, good resturants, bars etc etc are in the area
then at night go over to downtown for most of the big clubs
i dunno i think i musta gotten ripped off then if you say its $15-18 bucks. i remember it more like 25-30
i never really had any problem with any cab drivers
i actually had 2 madd cool ones. one of them droped me off at the liqour store and waited till i came out and didnt charge me a waiting time or nothing
the other one was one night on the way to space we made him put on a cd, guy didnt even care we were jamming out to some 135 bpm trance ha ha ha
but yea after hearing these stories i will def watch them this year |

Waiting in traffic can rack up that $ charge for the cab. |
