| It doesn't end here...... I guess New York is trying to set up their game since the big edm boom hit. |

i think this is what bothers me the most. It's like we're a product now, and only that hits hit a proven profitability we're being paid attention to. But not "us" really, the neon crowd we paved the way for. The early 2000s, sure there was money to be made, but it just felt more authentic. |

I wont be getting my hopes up too high.
I will comment after I walk into that club (and or clubs) again, 1-2 years later after it opened. |

Yeah, pretty much this. I hope my intuitions are wrong though, I'd love some legit venues. |

we just need one more, respectable big room. honestly, even if it's pacha-esque but at least takes some of the crowd from pacha away.. that way when pacha does have good nights like liebing, locodice, etc. it won't be a show.
now, if that new room were to be run by space ibiza.. well then.. |

Space outta nowhere? Stanley's people were just saying how they were gonna open before year end and now Space is thrown in the ring. So is it space or sankeys? I'm sure finale and marquee will be VIP type places, but probably looser door since I believe they are larger than Lavo/provoc
Also, the article says the sankeys/space is a 13000 capacity venue. That's obviously sq feet and not 13k person venue, lol. |

One of the comments about Pacha and Space

Great, so the owners of Pacha are opening up another, smaller, sweatbox. How exciting.
The real news here today is that we're getting a Space NYC which will blow Pacha NYC out of the water. Gone are the dog days of Holocaust recreations on Pacha's dancefloor. Pacha won't be able to compete. Why would a DJ waste their one night in NYC at Pacha when they can make ten times the moolah bringing their show to Space? Pacha's karma has finally come full circle. Years of disloyalty will finally come back to bite these guys in the ass. |
More about Space

Giant news from clubland, as word comes through that the owners of Space, the legendary club from Ibiza, are planning to open a 13,000 sq ft club on the far west side of Midtown. The club that is synonymous with the summer party scene that invades the Spanish island will open in the space that was meant to be the New York outpost of Sankeys from the U.K., a project that never was able to get off the ground. The new club is expected to open sometime next year. This news surely has the local nightlife leaders nervous, as they have been able to control the DJ scene here as New York nightlife has incorporated EDM into the business model these past few years.
Today also comes word that the EMM Group has partnered with Pacha on the soon-to-open Finale space. That means that they have brought in multiple partners to operate the multiple club spaces in the multi-level enterprise, leaving the food operation as the only piece that they have complete control over. How will Pacha play downtown? We will find out next week when Finale opens with Heidi Klum's annual Halloween bash.
Marquee's planned relaunch as a palace for EDM is moving ahead, with plans to reopen early in January with Tiesto, who is rumored to be some sort of partner in the project. Also, the old District 36 space, a horrible club that just happens to be fully licensed and have a world class sound and light system, is on the market. This presents another opportunity for an out-of-town club to try and break into the NYC market in an easy way. |

I would love a MoS or Amnesia franchise |

it's a longshot, but here's the dream:
space ibiza successfully opens. it has a terrace. it goes after hours. big black cox is a resident. it's 21+. and no neon allowed. |
