It's been a long time since I've been to an all trance party. I was planning to see Marco Carola tomorrow night, but after seeing Carlo Lio destroy Footwork last week and then Richie last night, I think I've had my techno fill and it's time for me to indulge in my favourite genre of music. Other than Mr. Morton, I haven't previously seen any of the DJs on the bill. I hope they impress.
I haven't been to Sound Academy in a couple of years. How's the sound? From what I gathered on the boards, Sonar's sound quality was lacking. Seems absurd for a venue of such name.
What sort of a male:female ratio do you think a trance party pulls these days?
I saw Umek at Sound Academy and the venue was nice. It was large, lots of room to dance(especially at the back), and enjoy the show. The patio is big and you get a nice view of the Toronto skyline.
The ratio of girls to guys was a LOT better than Guvvy. It could have something to do with the booking, but I think women are more open to go to the Docks/Sound Academy than Guvvy.

I think we should rate a trance party by how many different types of rainbow unicorns there are, instead of hot girls

I hope this remains true. My anecdotal evidence supports your theory: I had incredible fortune with beautiful women the only time I've ventured to Sound Academy.
I wonder, what genre of EDM do you think attracts the most beautiful women? House?

Depends what city you live in.
Above & Beyond say that when they play in Toronto, it's all dudes, but when they go to LA, it's all women :disbelief

hope they have better sound in the side room. during sonar it was horrible.

Proper trance. All the DJs utilized ebb and flow, playing a nice mix of melodic tunes and techy, chunky bangers. Tons of space to dance, and the sound system was solid. , that was fun!
Mr. Morton, loved what I heard of your set! I was the dude in the bright blue pants.

WOW!!!
Was not expecting that caliber of goodness. Proper trance.. uplifting.. no "dub" trance for most of the night. Lots of classics. Sound was surprisingly crisp!! Not too crowded. No douche bags. Solarstone and Protoculture were amazing. Wish Kandi played longer... More trance events at the Sound Academy would be nice. :D

It sounds like I wrote that in the past ^^ haha. Definitely felt like it was 2005.
