CBCElectronic Producer who said EDM is real, now says EDM is fake(she got into electronic in 2011)

Heres 2 CBC music articles I found, they were written about the new, & on the rise genre of Canadian "Urban Electronic World" music. They state that Canadian "Urban Electronic World" music is getting bigger, & more Canadians are shifting to a multicultural music style.

I read the article, & found quite a few inconsistencies, mostly about the artists mentioned being now lumped into a new emerging world / multicultural genre all of a sudden.

Do you agree with what they say in the articles about Canadian "Urban Electronic World" music being a new genre? Also do you agree music in Canada is going more multicultural & that style is on the rise in Canada?

How is that any different than the trashy guetta/tiesto hip hop productions circulating in top 40? This is not new news...

I think many people who really like electronic music, hate the term EDM, just like they disliked the other buzzword electro before it.

What did you think of the actual article? Outside of the name do you think a multicultural style could be successful in Canada? Are there any artists you know of in Canada who do, or have done a style like that?

Its hard to find articles on Canadian music that can be posted, & discussed on here, I do my best.

I think the slant on the music according to these articles, is that it is a more multicultural/world music. Outside of the name do you think a multicultural style could be successful in Canada? Are there any artists you know of in Canada who do, or have done a style like that?

Great latino house album. I listen to it regularly.

It was revealed yesterday on the CBC electronic Facebook page that the new community producer of CBC Electronic had no background in electronic music what so ever. Her resume was posted (below), & it showed that she came from a "Urban" Music background.

Also shockingly the new producer is now in charge of music submissions, & stated they dont know what electronic music is, & just got into it.

Do you feel it is good journalism that CBC has hired a 'Urban" music journalist with no background in electronic music to talk about it? Do you feel it is fair to real electronic music artists if someone who has no knowledge of the music will become the source of it now?

Here is theProducer of CBC Electronic making a statement to electronic artists, as well as her resume that was posted online.

Hi! I'm Anupa, the new community producer for CBC Electronic. You might have seen me around the CBC Music blogs; I recently wrote about taking in a Jay-Z show at the brand new (and controversial) Barclays Center in Brooklyn and I've hung out with Craig Norris on the R3-30 a couple of times. On the electronic front, I just interviewed the lovely Vanese Smith, a.k.a Pursuit Grooves, and Flying Lotus. Has anyone caught FlyLo recently? The new live show is pretty high-octane and a huge step up from the fun, but relatively low-key sets he used to play. Dude is a star. I'm really excited to be spending some time helming the CBC Electronic community. It's an interesting moment for Canadian music — Cadence Weapon once told me: "It feels like a renaissance" — but I think it's especially bright for those working primarily within the vague confines of "electronic" music. Clearly I'm not a big fan of genre distinction. And lastly, while you'll be seeing more content in the coming weeks, the team has done a great job with the CBC Electronic Facebook community and @CBCElectronic on Twitter. Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to share your finds and tell us how we're doing — or even just to gossip about Deadmau5. (Okay, you can just @_anupa on Twitter to gossip.)

Seems like the producer of CBC electronic has been reading Ta. In her latest article she now writes how EDM is a fake genre, even tho before this article she said she loved EDM, & covered it.

Do you think it is weird that a urban journalist, turned edm journalist is now trying to talk like a electronic journalist?

I find it so strange that all of these artists and journalists are going crazy with the term EDM all of a sudden....It's probably all due to the NPR article.

This last statement grinds my gears. What did Derrick May really break down? That all of this is a flash in the pan?

This is someone that will be writing extensively about the scene for CBC? I don't get it.

i always though that "EDM" was created on tranceaddict lol

It is very weird when journalists (like Anupa from CBC Electronic), who are urban journalists that got into "EDM" in 2010, who have never been part of the electronic music are now writing about it like they are experts on the subject.

What is also weird is that this journalist from CBC Electronic was saying how much they love EDM, & were inserting there friends from the urban scene into, are now talking how EDM is a fake genre now, meanwhile they are the ones who are part of that fake genre.
