Troxler at 1 though?

def not #1, dixon is great though!

I'm impressed there are so many women on the list

Maya Jane Coles at #10? Really? I saw here a year ago at Wrong Bar (?), had potential, but from new to #10 in one year? Or is more of the same, with people voting based on productions and not DJs skills?

Is there any doubt that this is the case, at least partially? Also, HYPE.

not surprised, every week he was posting new asking people to vote for him. Just shows these things are 100% a popularity contest. I wish these mags would just move on and stop ranking these guys as if they're some NCAA football team.

Also, I feel like a lot of people vote for who they think they should vote for, as opposed to who they really want to vote for.

this

RA:top100 = the hipsters DJ Poll.

Troxler ain't bad, but he's not number 1 at anything in my books.

Isn't there an inherent problem with polls? You'll always get people at the top places who represent the forums userbase. If there was a popular progressive forum, I'm sure there would be people like Paul Thomas, Funkagenda, and Jerome Isma-Ae in the top spots, whereas the "underground" progressive forum would have Guy J, Santiago Garcia, and Cid Inc on the top.

That's just what I think anyways.

it feels like maybe 50 hipsters decided to make up a ranking based on what they liked

Exactly right. What else would it be? Each and every list that's put to a public vote is a popularity contest. Voting in the Mayor is a popularity contest. TA, DJ Mag and RA are all the same, just different crowds. People get all up in arms every time every list is released but there's really nothing to argue about unless you think it's rigged.

I don't care about the polls in general so I'm not bothered how the results turn out, but I do think that it's rather lame they keep doing this year after year when it obviously isn't based on any real substance. And if they're going to do it this way, at least call it the "Most Popular DJ Poll", not "TOP DJ 2012", it's so misleading.
