I'm talking about the general scale of stupidity. Never mind someone who fumbles over several words in his delivery, I've seen exponentially more stupid on facebook. If you're going to start a thread highlighting something you consider stupid, it ought to concern more than a video that, at worst, presents a cliche'd understanding of higher education in the form of semi-poetic spoken word.

From the get go he ruins himself when he says "Let's look at the statistics." It doesn’t take much to realize that he has no idea how statistics works. You can’t throw a couple of names out there and call it statistics! In the real world, statistics are clearly in favour of Universities for providing education and advancing society. Not only is his concept of statistics delusional, but he can’t even get his facts straight. Bill Gates went to Harvard FFS, and Steve Jobs seems to have made his important contacts during his brief 6 months at College. The idiot in the video argues that these two men didn’t need a University education to succeed, but I argue the complete opposite, that without them going to University, they would not have been as successful.

Your argument seems mired in pedantry that ignores the attributes of poetic license and overlooks the larger point he was trying to make about how the ordeal of actually graduating from college diminishes the value of the education one is supposed to receive.

the insisting sunshine theme made it unbearable. I also hate it when people use the exception as the framework for an argument. Also, i don't feel his tribe speak is legit. That kid hasn't hit the pipe or done anything you would expect from the inner city thuglife he is trying to purport.
I would not disagree that a degree is just a piece of paper and one could learn everything one might learn up to a master level education on the internet but what actually makes a difference in social mobility is your upbringing and level of privilege. So the link between higher education and money is there but it is a correlation as people of privilege go to university because that is what is expected. Among those that go to university, your initial level of privilege is the biggest indicator of future success.
And i would say more than ever, humanities literature, musicology, are being dropped for more practical courses that have a monetary impetus and the overall education of a society is sort of downgraded. You shouldn't be able to get an undergraduate degree without studying the basics in literature , philosophy .....
But ya, there is an emotional headroom you need to stay clear of when delivering ideological text designed to be sentimental and he didn't just pass that threshold but formed a train with his buddies and long stroked it.
