Enough is enough. This is Canada and the situation has gotten so bad that the UN has also condemned this government for their lack of action towards the aboriginal people in this country.

you really think a person who calls one womans plight to benefit her people "attention whoring" can answer any of your questions properly?

i may be wrong but arent you military?? and went overseas to protect our "freedoms" a few years back?

That's about $6168 per person per year spent on top of all the regular stuff a Canadian citizen gets.

so you think natives arent entitled a bit more than us, Canadian citizens??

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh lord yeah!

While I sympathize with natives, I have a very hard time getting behind this movement. The federal gov't can throw all the money they want to FN, but it will do nothing to solve their problems. To some degree, residents on reserves don't want the problem fixed by the gov't. The whole "white man taking care of the indian" problem. With no willingness to open up the books, there is no confidence in band councils to spend their money wisely. The Attawapiskat report is missing a significant amount of information. Why should the gov't keep throwing good money after bad, if the bands won't engage in proper accounting?

Public support for FN will never be achieved by a $200,000/yr chief who can't explain the squalor of the very people she's supposed to be responsible for.

Well the other side of the battle is Harper/cons so I assume this can only mean you support neither?

I don't hate her. What I want is truthful negotiations without use of lies and deception.

Again, it sounds like your main qualms about the Natives movement here are the same ones that run much more rampant in nearly everything the cons do. They aren't exactly known for being truthful or negotiating.

You gotta love our friends over at SunTV. You give these guys the Native question, they have fact sheets all over the place for every corrupt band leader from Yellowknife to Labrador. You ask them about the 2011 Federal Election and ehh... well...

That was my first thought. Only time I open any article from these guys on a cons vs _____ issue is when I want a good thorough laugh. You won't find more bias in Canadian media.

All these natives need to move south. The cost and logistics involved with living up there are ridiculous. They have no way to earn money and costs a ton for them because it needs to be shipped all the way out these. They have to rely on massive government subsidies, which is just not sustainable. I think if they moved south it would solve a lot of their problems. That, or go back to a nomadic lifestyle.

Auditing firm Deloitte can't find proper records for a lot of Attawaspiskat transactions. For $104 million dollars spent, "an average of 81 per cent of files did not have adequate supporting documents and over 60 per cent had no documentation of the reason for payment."

Funny thing about that spending: did the federal gov actually make sure there were qualified people to spend that amount of cash? Any project managers?

You can't give a kid a $1000, and then be upset when he comes back with a belly full of candy and a receipt for a balloon.

I agree with you, but there is going to be a section of Natives who'd scream unwarranted fed govt interference in Native affairs
