which ones? if you don't have a good fundamental understanding on how these things work, and how quickly they can deteriorate you can lose your lunch pretty quick.
give us some disclosure here. Current please, hindsight means nothing to me. |
You mean which sectors? What disclosure is necessary?
If you want to know something about levered ETFs, they always lose value daily. They are not long holds, they are intraday. One interesting approach to this is to short both the long and short ETF of the same sector. But this cannot be done without ENORMOUS risk from losing a short position. Actually, I don't remember if they changed the 'rules' about that (or who sets them), but when they first came out some funny 'investors' would do this double shorting. Fun times.
The levered ETFs are basically 'how to scalp'. You win, the ETF company wins, and the market 'corrects itself'.
Energy is a nice sector to play but I have seen tremendous happen all over the board. Transportation, Financial, Precious metals, you name it and there is eventually a play. I could give a about tech stocks, because they are volatile in a bad way.
Averaging your buy into gold is smart. You must have a good amount of capital to even consider it, because if you didn't the comission would be hefty. |

you mean you are long USD to AUD
that would be so if your target is 1.02 AUD
it looks to have been trending up against the AUD for the past month or so.
I'm getting ed up big in gold.. ill be tiering down some more tomorrow. also adding more shorts to gas. Thursday's report on gas will be a light number. I expect weather forecasts to warm up 3 weeks out. |

| Your HGU.TO is underperforming the market. Stay away from cruddy ETFs. |

Here is a fine example of an ETF performing at it's best:

For the 3x leverage the actual performance is slightly higher, because the volatility has been low. They also readjust their holdings every now and then. |

the market?
thats because commodities (Specifically gold co's ) are underperforming the market.
the etf is fine for what it does. NAV is tracking very well with stock price.
if you want to track the S&p, track the S&p. That's obviously not my objective. |

| I meant the gold market. Compare it yourself, HGU.TO is a dog right now. |
