I remember when Eco did a trance classics night at club love. One of the best nights ever.

Jaytech played a good set. But Santos Party House is the worst club I've ever been to in NYC and I'm a guy who can tolerate even Pacha on its worse night. This place is just bad. Granted that last weekend I had a blast in the basement there at Datt's party, the main floor is a different story. It's a small space and it's impossible to stand without streams of pple pushing by you as they enter/leave every millisecond. I can guarantee you the place is like this every Sat even if a monkey is up there on the deck; the crowd is just there to hear something with a beat, like probably 5 pple seem to know who Jaytech was.

I saw one guy who was taking pics/vids when Jaytech was dropping familiar numbers and I was glad to see at least one fan. Turns out he's ov9gtidub from the forum. He had to leave because his friend got kicked out. Hell, I barely made it inside the place myself because there was bad blood between myself and the guy checking id's at the line. He probably sensed (or heard) me calling him an in my head and refused to let me in because my driver's license had expired, the same license that has let me into tons of clubs over the last few years even in Ibiza. Apparently this dude can't count that the ID still makes me over 21. I told him I already got my ticket but he wouldn't budge so I went to the separate line for the basement where the pple were much nicer, actually had a will-call list where they checked me off instantly, and let me in under just 2 minutes.

Jaytech played a good set, I'm glad he stuck to his sound since many dj's usually come here and try to play tracks like 'kick out the epic mfkr' for the 'NY' crowd. He played tracks like Multiverse, his remix of Andain's Promises and the Toby Hedges remix of The Way We Were which I was glad to hear. He closed at 3:30 with a remix of Anjunabeach that was pretty good. He was def on point and wanted to play more but the santos pple apparently like to go up there and abruptly shut the dj down at 3:30 instead of 4. I aim to never go back to this place though because no matter who's playing up there, if it's a ty venue experience it's just no good.

One thing I can't complain about is that both weekends I was there girls just straight up came up to me to dance. A girl started grinding on me each night, others were like wrapping their arms around me etc. which is something that hardly happens in Pacha, lol. Idk if that's the norm there but no complaints about that aspect at least. Otherwise, this place sucks major, major ass :(

As I mentioned, the crowd had no idea who Jaytech was. They were just there to get drunk and jump around at every beat :whip:

having come in late, I asked someone what time j. started.
who?
you know the dude up there....
not having looked up who the opener was, asked about that as well, no clue.
after that j. answer, I asked around, exactly one person knew.
small sample but obv. people were attending the regular E.B. party, not a specific dj that just happened to be there
a lot of the people there were just clubbing and many of them, if older and with more $, would be typical m&b material.
as to the music, the general vibe prob keeps me from being very objective, but leaving to go to SR was an easy decision.

reading the last couple of posts above:
I've been to SPH once or twice before, for more concert-type stuff, last was YACHT there.
That was fun, and nothing I said above applies to that event.
One thing they didn't have then was all the table seating taking up valuable floor space.
So maybe it's just the Electric Beach party that causes this.
Hope they don't bring in any more good DJs into this party night.

I'm suprised no one else got bothered enough (to spec. mention it) by the damn wands, wand-waving.
If you had even half as many of those at Output, it would be 2x as bright :)

There is a night and day difference between the upstairs and the downstairs at Santos. Upstairs is drunken fest, and downstairs is awesome undergroundness. I was concerned about Jaytech being booked in the upstairs room, and it seems like my concerns have been validated. Glad I didn't come down for this. Hopefully he gets booked again in a better room.

The crowds have changed from what they used to be. Didn't get the sense many people knew who Jaytech was and I didn't see the Anjunabeats t-shirts I would've expected, but hey, much better to see people getting into it in some capacity now, than when some of these parties/bookings were completely empty 2-3 years ago, I would know..

There are two sides to this coin... it's good to see some DJ/producers get their due but it sucks for people who want to go out and enjoy the music and have do deal with everything that brings in.

Last night was terrible. Complete night and day experience from Solarstone two weeks ago. I agree with everyone else that the crowd had no idea who the DJ was. They could have had DJ stickyboots up there and the crowd wouldnt have known the difference.

The crowd itself was awful. Seemed like everyyone there was 21-22 (maybe the NYU crowd?) years old. Pushing, shoving and sloppy drunkenness everywhere. The only relief was that the downstairs was opened and music was pumped in there.

For some reason, I though Santos was an underground spot. I was expecting a a dimly lit club with everyone there for Jaytech and the music - I couldnt have been more completely wrong. Is Santos always like that? How did the promoters manage to get everyone out for Jaytech? Free for kids from NYU?

I loved Santos' basement for the Datt party. I never made it upstairs to Zach's but I heard it was PACKED and was probably along the lines of this Jaytech crowd.

I'm sure Santos is disappointed you weren't there - I heard they fell well short of their "people standing on the sidelines with arms crossed" quota

That said, Jaytech may simply be becoming too big a booking for the alternate/deeper rooms. The first time I saw him was in the Anjunadeep room at WMC '10 - he absolutely killed it and it turned me on to the darker, underground side of dance music. But back then I was just a drunken who stumbled into that room looking for MOAR TROUSE, so who am I to offer praise or pass judgement?

That may be true in general, but no problem on Sat. see above about "no one" going there to see J.

actually, a good one for that:
no such thing as the zeal of the converted
had some fun banter with a bunch of kids at the falafel truck outside. only 2am and all totally red-eye faced, waiting to kill the beer munchies.
didn't seem like s though, just hammered
