Judge Jules, king of cheese, or simply given a bad rap

So, i always hear everyone slagging judge jules. I have heard, he only has one good set, Qontact. so i downloaded that the other night, and listened to the first 20 minutes this morning, it sounded pretty damn good.
now, i want to download a TY set of his, one that shows why you think he is such a bad DJ, preferably with lots of cheesy overplayed tracks, and long trainwrecks, stupid voice drops etc.
so, what set should i download?
also, what is your opinion of judge jules in general?

| he's an allright DJ, but he annoys the hell out of me, he can be amazing, he builds the energy live really well, which doesn't come across on mp3 unfortunately :( |

Yeah i have the privaledge of meeting him last week, as he was on the same flight as me on the way back from ibiza, and i had a long chat with him, the person i was with will vouch, he is totally sound, and has a mint little kid.
Im fed up with people commenting on jules from a liveset they downloaded, or his radio1 show
Firstly his radio1 show is nothing like a set he spins in a club, as radio1 has a large say on wot he plays, and he has to play a range of genres to keep his spot.
If he played a radio show that started off uplifting trance and finished banging techno, he would be dropped, simply because radio1 are lame. I would love his friday show to coem back where he could do this. But we have fergie for now - boring
Anyway i have seen him spin many times recently, and his sets are well structured, instead of tracks everywhere like last year, his mixing is always mint, and his tune selection is amazing
But then again i love jules, i love the tracks he plays and the way he puts together a set, so i maybe biased
But i will admit last year he was not on top form, but he has been going from strength to strength after losing his residancy @ gatecrasher
But his club night in ibiza is very popular, with ferry corsten and eddie halliwell as residants, and he cna pack out any club accross the country
So as i say, before u flame him for one liveset he played, or his radio1 show, please go and see him live
And dont just say he is crap, anyone cna do that, but why do you think that??
Ofcoarse i do realise some people dont like his style, fair enough
Just annoys me the lamers who either a) follow the trend, and if eveyrone says he is amazzing will agree and visa versa

yeah, i wish i could hear the man spin live. unfortunately i live over in canada, and i don't think i will be able to see him any time soon. so i really have no choice but to base my opinion on him on anything but his mp3s. I have a 2 disc set, clubbers guide to trance, and i must admit, in my opinion it's pretty cheese laden, but overall good mixing. i downloaded the qontact set last night, and it seems pretty good too. is there anything else that you can suggest to get a good idea of his set building abilities?
i'd also like to hear an example of a set where he isn't on top form, so i can base my opinion on that too.
i know mp3 is no subsitute for seeing a DJ live, but, it comes close. for example, Magick 6 mixed by tiesto, is AMAZING, totally conveys the energy of the crowd in that mix.
anyway, i'm not trying to base my opinion on one live set, i posted this thread so i could find more jules to download, and could get replies like yours fly, honestly saying what you think. so thanks.

it was YOUR insistentence that jules is so good last night on the hub, that made me download the jules at qontact set, and check it out. i'm trying to get information about the guy to base an opinion on, not flame him, so just chill out ok. |

whats everyone got against Julius? he is amazin. there are plenty worse DJs than him, Pete Tong, Seb Fontaine, and whos that other one... oh yeah - Dave bloody Pearce! Judge Jules has done well in his career cuz he is good at what he does.
why did he lose his residency at crasher? |

I like his mix CD's
The clubbed series is one of my most listened to CD's.
He always seems to have a differant style to match the trance side of him.
Either house, breaks or techno.
His latest CD is also very good.
1 CD of Funky house, 1 of hard house + techno and the other Trance + hard trance.
I havent seen hom live but what friends have said he is actually quite good :) |

Coz all the crasher regs hated him, coz he wasnt very good last year, he is better now, so is back on the monthly list :) |

LOL, seb said that, he used to spin trance, lol
You cna tell jules loves the music, just by wot he looks like when he spins, and how often he can play certain tunes, like "fuct camera"
You should stop beleiving rumours mate :) |
