I can't, i can't stand hearing EDM this EDM that. Since the explosion of electronic music, or rather diarrhea that is dubstep and trouse, in US, everything is EDM.

Yes, I know EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music.

This is basically a new term for when everybody used to call it Techno.
Castles in the sky- Techno, Prodigy- Techno, Depeche Mode - Techno, etc etc.

I can't ing stand it. ing Neon YOLO/SWAG movement.

/rant over.

When someone says they "Love all EDM" I do a 360 and walk away. Red flag for I don't know about anything but skrilldicks and David Guido.

It's an inside joke if your not in the know, the joker will just laugh at your frustration.

EDM is probably the best acronym and descriptor for this type of music. It's much better than the "techno" label. I just think it bothers people because the noobs use it and the more underground crew doesn't want anything to do with the yolos
PoLskA
yea i just refer to it as electronic music...

I hate when I tell people I like Techno and they instantly think of DeadMau5, or Skillrex or some other cheesy name they associate cause they read an article on the Kings of EDM UGGGG!!!

i agree, 10-15 years ago you tell a friend or classmate you were going to see a "dj" they would say "oh isent that rave techno music"
then they would always have to say something about E and glowsticks

i think this term is a lil more laid back and up to date
but yea this whole new generation of clubbers is just annoying
you didnt see these people 5 years ago now they are just flooding house/trance parties and alot of them arent even that respectful to themselves or people around them when partying

if they ever start going to blk market parties than were in trouble :nervous:

Eh...saying something like "I love a lot of different EDM" is a lot easier than saying "I love drum & bass, trance, deep house, psy and minimal" or whatever the case may be. It's very similar to why I say "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas and happy new year"...less words.

It used to be when I told people that I listened to DJs they were like "Oh, so basically you like videogame music". I honestly liked that better. Now, with EDM, they associate it with neon clothes, kids in braces on molly, and YOLO.

It's awful. I appreciate that the scene has blown up for some reasons (ease of access) but I don't like the crowds. I guess, can't have your cake and eat it too?

Yet, I bet those same people that called it video game music/or that its gay, are raging out to guetta/djbl3nd/dubstep/whatever now, cause its the cool thing to do.

Yeah, I agree, i hate how that is associated with the name now.
