It seems that techno is making a refreshing return.
After a long hiatus, it seems that 130+ bpm, edgier, analog techno is coming back in style. Ive noticed tons of it popping up at various venues, and many of the newer promoters are pushing it.
Also, it seems that the new generation that came about in the last 5 years is starting to move in that direction. Former electro/dubstep fans are diving into it.
Pretty cool to see.
Thoughts?

Even Preach is back to making techno. And he's making some groovy stuff

Yet another bandwagon for producers and DJs to jump on, or maybe the drugs are just getting better. Not sure what you mean by "analog" though - are you implying that most of it is produced with hardware?
Either way, the sound never went out of style, it's been flourishing pretty much everywhere but here.

*fingers crossed*
Hoping for the faster grittier Techno sound. Loved the minimal sounding stuff, but nothing beats the Techno of old. Love me some proper Techno.

What, like this? :D
In many circles, what's been called Techno for the past while, isn't much more than pitched down Prog House wearing a new hat. The majority of the Techno records in my crates don't have minute long, stop dancing and sway around waiting for the beat to kick back in breakdowns, yet that's what's been labeled as Techno. :conf:
P.S.:

...and apologies if I get a tad impassioned/defensive about it - I love a lot of different kinds of music, but raw, jacking Techno happens to be one of my favourite things in the whole wide world. :)

It's definitely coming back in a way that it hasn't seen in a long time. Guys like Karenn, Untold, Analogue Cops, British Murder Boys, Surgeon, etc. are bringing it back to a bigger, international stage then it's had in years.
That doesn't mean it ever left, but you can't deny that it's gaining more attention now then it has in several years.

I hope 'techno' doesn't become a trend personally...
I've never had a problem finding decent techno over the last couple years, you just gotta know where, and who, to look for. The last thing we need is everyone and their mother producing 'techno', because that's what it takes to get a booking all of a sudden...

Drumcode was founded in 1996 - it's only sucked for the last decade or so. :D

Drumcode was really great the first 5 years or so. I've still got a lot of Drumcode vinyl in crates from those days.
