I bought the Etys because I figured for $10, I'd rather be uncomfortable than lose my hearing.

My buddy said these are better than his Etys, which I also have now. Gonna give these a whirl for $17 off Amazon.

First, a little shout out is in order to you TA's. I was never big on techno, but after reading some of these threads here I finally going out to a few gigs now I'm a convert. I dig these sounds a lot now and I gotta thank you guys for exposing it to me.

on to Hawtin and Output.
My first time there and I already love this little club.. The vibe is excellent. And dear lord, that sound coming out from these speakers, never heard anything like it. And, yes, that Hawtin's intro.. I'm pretty sure if that place had windows, they would have to order new ones after that opening. My soul never shook so hard. I will most definitely come back for more.

It was great to meet you. I was all over the place so I ended up losing everybody later.

W sobote caly dzien mnie glowa bolala......

Kac to zmora, co? lol

I left at 4:30, I was in the middle of the room dancing and I took a break for a minute, at that point my legs gave out so I just left while I still could.. It was great meeting you too Seb, and seeing all the rest as well...

-- when did this one end?
someone told me at Digweed that Hawtin went til 8AM?
seems late for Output

--Ety's-
one other problem with them is how far the stem sticks out of your ear:
if you get hit on the side of your head (cup, hand, etc) not so good. Even have to be careful if you pull something over your head.

Attenuation:
OK for most places, for Output I'd want another -5db, maybe -10.

BTW, about the mentioned attenuation number discrepancy:
According to their site, the stated -12 is the NRR number, whereas the -20 they quote is what they seem to describe as the real world performance.

@ v-p:
what were those other techno events, just curious...

Hawtin was done around 530

not many..
Sunday at ezoo last year.. So, I caught Marco Carola, and a few others that I forgot, enjoyed it there a lot. I went to Zabiela few weeks ago(tech-house, you guys call it?) and now Hawtin, ooh, and Cox last year at Ultra but I was drank as so I don't remember much, so I guess that doesn't count, lol... oh and 15 min of Bayer when he was at Pacha, lol... My amateur hour also extends to listening some podcasts as of late, and the stuff guys post in the techno storm thread... seems like I'm explaining myself but you guys are way to hard on noobs around here and I do try to do the homework hahaha..

ooh, one more, I'm going to Drumcode party in Miami in a few days too :)

About sound. It was loud but it wasn't overpowering like it was, for example at Roseland for Prydz when my ears would still ring for two more days after. Output's system is more balanced in that regard. When I was in the middle of the dancefloor I never felt like I had to leave/move because the sound is too much and my ears would bleed out... my 2c.

There is a lot of techno music these days. It seems like you are doing the right thing by going to techno events and checking out the podcasts.

No one is going to hate on you here because you listen to techno, so ask away.

I'd recommend checking out more podcasts since they have a variety of artist/music styles. Drumcode is a popular label that I got into myself when I first got into techno but there's more out there. Check out the CLR Podcast, D-Node Podcast, and Slam Radio on iTunes. They are well known podcats with many big techno names.

hawtins intro was nice and low, id drop it down to -25 on a steady rumble for a solid 2-3 mins it seemed like forever, it was almost like he was testing the system as there was no real distinct beat he just drove that down and slowly spread it out across a few notes. unreal if you ask me, it wasn't like you could dance to it either you just stood there and felt your chest and throat vibrate
