edit; okay that Jam & Spoon track comes close, but where was that popular back then?
Find Me (Odyssey to Anyoona) wasn't quite as successful as Right In The Night, but it was still pretty popular across Europe.

and again it's not vocal trance, because it didn't really exist back then, like already stated.
Zharen, nice sentence :D

ok let's try again:
if you are getting a bit picky, all you need to do to turn this into a trance song that fits a perfect framework for vocal trance is the following. Simply cut the highs and mids out completely @ 1:01 (have the bass a bit heavy), slowly bring the mids in, follow with the highs after you are 10% in. Gradually to normal until 1:16
And i picked this one because the producers ended up creating typical vocal trance ie Gianfranco Bortolotti and Mauro picotto (RAF). This is 1994.
most popular? probably not.

Well vocal trance did indeed exist in 1994. And even earlier than that. This one is from 1993:

Yeah I remember Right in the Night. Maybe I'm being too picky about "most popular". And if you can pull euro-house/dance into this discussion there are a lot of tracks to be mentioned.

Vocal trance is what '90s euro dance turned into when they lost the raps and added breakdowns.
