I'm looking forward to hearing some more tracks with all the 'talent' they've collaborated with as they didn't seem to rely on it in past albums but I understand they want to broaden their demographic. Nile Rodgers is a good surprise. I wonder if this will start a trend with producers coming back with Disco House or Nu-Disco like in the mid 00's or re-branding Disco altogether with big ensembles.

Pretty sure disco revivalism is still going pretty strong. It certainly is in my neck of the woods.
Syntonic
Oh, didn't know that. I rarely search for the anyways but I do hear Nu-Disco every now and then on beatport. I just thought it peaked a while ago and became esoteric nowadays.

quote:

Except for a snippet of "an Australian rock record" that opens the final track, "Contact," Daft Punk foreswore samples entirely, and they limited the role of drum machines to just two of the album’s thirteen tracks. The only electronics come in the form of a massive, custom-built modular synthesizer that Daft Punk played live on the album, they told me, and an arsenal of vintage vocoders on which they manually manipulated factors like pitch, vibrato and legato.

Either the real thing (although a radio edit) or some seriously nice Pharrell impersonation.
Very good none the less! :)

My feelings about the album are kind of mixed now, but Get Lucky sounds like it will be the summer anthem with a dumptruck full of remixes to follow.

Get Lucky is out on iTunes now. Very catchy track.

I like the new song a lot, but I can't help but be annoyed with them parading around boasting about how it's something "new."

It's basically just what Cassius did in '02. =\

rubez
parading?

daft punk have been chopping and sampling from the start. it's their backbone.

sounds like the rest of the album will be a bit different, so they released a 'core' tune that everyone can associate with to ease people in... it already has a more acoustic sound to it.

More like what Peter Frampton has been doing forever. Who cares?
