Get off my lawn, liberals! Its Obama's fault for regulating the fertilizer plants and wasting taxpayer money that could have gone to plant safety, this wouldn't have happened in a true free market.

i was just gonna post this vid.
i still can't believe how quickly that blast hit them. from what i could gather it looks like they were a decent distance away, like at least a quarter of a mile or so...and next thing BAM the blast is right there. daaaaaaaaammmmmm

I would never have guessed the explosion could reach them! I thought they'd just see a blast from the distance and say "wow".

I am not surprised in the least bit. Ammonium Nitrate fertilizers are an extremely powerful explosive, and the process in making it involves fairly explosive chemicals as well.
ANFO (Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil) explosives are a very commonly used industrial explosive used in the mining industry, and because of its ease of acquisition it is a choice explosive for terrorists. The OKC bombing, the first WTC attack, and a number of other high profile bombings were all ANFO bombs.
Basically don't with the stuff. It likes to explode big. If I knew I was near a fertilizer plant that was on fire I'd be going the the other way as fast as possible.

Heard there was a nursing home close by too. Sucks that the school got hit but it was in the evening, so it wasn't in session. Not the case for the nursing home :(
