I never see Avalon tickets start for more then $30's, but they have pricing tiers that go up pretty fast. I also never really see club events in LA start pricing over $30 either, other then special occasion stuff.
I think Ruby Sky is killing for money and they know that this guy can sell the place out, so why not get what they can. |

| Wow, he was actually able to sucker two people already in commenting.... (I am ready for some lame SA defense, don't worry). |

Once i paid 100 to see DJ TIESTO
anticipated responses:
big perf - "lulz i was at same show. guest list, bro"
dave t - "i remember back in my day when i paid 10 bucks to see tiesto and the ticket came with a free drink!"
trancefamily - "omg did u touch teh lazerz? did eh play that song with tegan and sara?"
somebody else (that i really like) - "tiesto - fly" |

Ruby or spundae....guess this is an example of how greedy spundae is, charging their patrons three times as much.
As for tiesto, comp list alone would not suffice, i'd need my travel expenses, lodging, meals, drinks and a very generous stipend for my time to artend that. |

This is Ruby not Spundae. Spundae is paid as in-house promoter. |

Ruby skye has no competition. If you live in the bay area and want to see a big dj your choice is basically ruby skye or go to LA except for occasional one offs at the warfield. There is all kinds of competition just in LA but you even have the whole rest of socal, OC SD and even Vegas is reasonable. The scene here is tiny in comparison so we have to pay a lot of money or get crappy nights to compete with socal and Vegas.
If you like trance the situation is even more hopeless, then it's ruby skye on Thursday or go to LA. Don't know who this guy is but if I were a fan I would just be happy that he's playing on a weekend for any amount of money. |

That is only partly true.
San Francisco is a melting pot with people with a very diverse musical taste. It has been said that SF has over 100 clubs; regardless if that is true there are a lot of options. Depending on where you live you can walk out, turn the corner, and be at your local neighborhood club.
Ruby Skye needs to capitalize on the relatively few people who want to go to events they host. People who go to Ruby Skye will go regardless of the cost as long as it isn't too outrageous. |
