What an asinine post. Dutch trance DJs didn't ruin trance, the superclub, anthem formula was doomed to failure from the outset. A more pertinent question would be why the german techno DJs took a backseat and inadvertently allowed for the sound to take off.

Well it basically happen with every music style.
Some guys create a music, and then random talentless dude come and say "hey this music is cool, I'll try to do some".
They manage to get somethin close at first because they have an idea and a model to follow.
But then their imagination ran out, and that's when they start failing. They become the leader of a genre they don't fully understand because they were just followers. So being unable to create an artistic direction for the genre, they turn to the most easy thing they can do ... cheese.

And today Armin brought some joy again for our new King and all Dutch people, quite an honor I would say. It doesn't matter if you like Armin's music or not, because it's like Bierheld said, Armin has become and now is an entertainer:

Maybe because most of the notable German trance dj's/producers besides PvD and a few others were not willing to compromise on quality to gain wider popularity unlike their dutch counterparts?

Yes, I would agree. I was just posing it as a rhetorical question of sorts. Although if you look at what Oliver Lieb and to a certain extent Sven, the stuff they're playing today is just lackluster. Not commercial, just boring. Berlin/UK sound is so much more interesting, Shifted/Sigha/T47/Adam X/Milton Bradly. And then you have people like KDG and Vince Watson still making melodic techno.
What happened to Pascal Feos, anyhow?

While I do like Oliver's new stuff there is just no way it can live up to the work he did under Paragliders, L.S.G. and Spicelab.
Also, funny thing is some of Vince Watson's stuff is far closer to trance then the stuff played by Armin and Co.

Far too many people I wouldn't want to play in front of that many people. I prefer a smaller crowd. I still don't respect him the music he's playing is god awful. If he's an entertainer then I am not entertained at all.

Last time I heard a track by him, it was on Digweed's Transitions 4.
