I think they still would have changed their styles. It wouldnt be this easy to change styles and produce this freely,on that you are right tiesto cleared the path for them.

Tiesto is THE quintessential Dutch trance-cross over DJ.

Jesus, there are only 25,000 there.
Can you only respect someone who's music you like? I have no problem respecting artist of which I don't like the music they make or play that much.

Yeah, he really is a typical Hollywood star now, so obviously...
You must be frustrated a tiny bit I would say.

I only respect artists who plays and makes good music and who are nice people. Armin maybe a nice guy but he's hypocrite and a crappy DJ who's in it for the money.

He's like a red towel to you I think.
I think he's just smart and very aware he was lucky also.
If I was in his position I would do exactly the same, especially if I didn't have to worry about money for the rest of my life, or that of my kids. He would be a real fool if he didn't.

see this is what i dont get - unlike most artists he has enough money to last many lifetimes and if he wanted has the freedom to sit in a hammock in the maldives for years working on something that is real art, but doesnt - he would prefer to make more and more money....

And today Armin brought some joy again for our new King and all Dutch people, quite an honor I would say. It doesn't matter if you like Armin's music or not, because it's like Bierheld said, Armin has become and now is an entertainer:
i could only get through the first 1:40 before i had to turn it off. far too embarrassing to watch.

His way of going about is not sustainable for a long time and it will most likely dry you out in the long run. He has all the money in the world but I think he's just a greedy

It's more likely he just prefers to entertain a very large group of people. It'd be far more rewarding to make a huge and varied demographic happy with your work then to work incredibly hard to cater to the needs of a small and spoiled underground audience. Again, he is a DJ, not a musician. They are conflicting professions on many grounds.

Maybe the money isn't his major drive (maybe even never has been) and maybe it's just true that they don't give that much about the money they earn any more (till a certain level of course), but when being successful I bet things slowly get more complicated too and changes can be painful. If you are successful why not enjoy it for as long as it lasts? Those DJ's are actually running companies and many people earn there living from that. They know they have plenty, but now that they are successful loosing many fans suddenly would be very unpleasant too. The fans brought them the success after all and they probably also get kind of addicted to success.
I think it's very likely all those other artists, or anyone here, would do or act exactly the same as he did if they were in the same position.
Just read and compare about this successful Dutchman, Andre Rieu. His classical music and impressive shows is to entertain many people which I think can be compared to what those famous DJ's do. He also gets a lot of critics because of his commercial classical music: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_Rieu
Also don't forget most Dutch DJ's of Armin's age were inspired by Ben Liebrand, probably still one of the best DJ's ever. But he never got that famous, so they needed to do something different if they wanted to become really famous. Just few of many in our country got as famous as Armin, Tiesto and Ferry.
Afrojack by the way is more going after the money and even admits this openly. In my view he acts a bit more like famous soccer players, who know that it won't last for ever.
