ive been told that the V6's are the best headphones for under £100 that u can buy. Since u guys actually own these headphones would u agree with this? and do u no anywhere (preferably in uk) that still sells these? |
Since you are in Europe, you should look for headphones that are inexpensive in Europe... the Sennheiser HD280 and HD25 should be good. Each are great at what they do, and both take two completely different approaches to creating a DJ headphone... |

I have the MDRV7506, same thing as the V6...
I also have the MDR-V700DJ by Sony... To be honest, the 700DJ is better for djing. The 7506 cant go as loud, therefore, wouldnt be as good in a loud environment.
The MDR7506/V6 have great audio quality, that is why they are studio headphones, but when crancked very loud, they will get distorted but also crazy with the highs..
If you are out there in the UK, and you were thinking of getting the Sennheiser HD280 or HD25, then get the HD25.
Nothing against the HD280, but I've heard way to many mixed reviews on the HD280... and it's usually that its not loud enough.
The Senn HD25 do cost more, but trust me, its worth the money.
Be careful though, the HD25 has a cheaper model labled as the HD25SP... good sound, but the HD25SP does not go up as loud, so make sure you look for the HD25.
You prob can get the HD25 for about 133 pounds |

*sigh* it's not that the 7506 can't go as loud... it is that your mixer is distorting... and the highs on the 7506 are a bit bright, yea... that is a specific, engineered feature. The HD280's dont have that feature of being bright in the highs...
Remember, with the v700dj's and when the mixer is cranked, the headphones aren't distorting (headphones rarely distort), the MIXER is, but when you listen to the v700dj's, they simply dont tell you that the mixer is distorting... |

gluegun... good point..
Actually, talking about driving the MDRV700DJs.. Last night I was back at the pro audio store, picking up my mixer.
Anyhow, I saw the guy from the Pro Audio Section doing some work on some keyboards with the 700DJs on. He was telling some guys about the headphones, how good they were. I actually told him that they werent that good for pro audio use, but he told me the reason he liked them so much was because they were so easy to drive. They provided the most output by independent and portable devices.
Either way, I would go with the sennheiser HD25,,, to many complaints on the HD280,,, if not quality control something else. |

| I have only used two headphones, Sony MDR-V700s and Senn 280 pros. I have to say, out of those two, I vastly liked Sony better. I was going to get a new pair of sony's until I saw the pic of the pioneer hdj1000s! I've got to look into those now :) I've always been happy with pionner for the last 10 years in my dj and home audio eq. |
