"fair" and then midway between cluff and clow.
"clowf" but not with a fully formed "f", more the shape of the mouth when you'd be beginning to sound an f.

lug.

It's "cluff", and anyone who said any differently in this country would be laughed out of town.

It's "cluh"

I would pronounce it the same way I pronounce trough.

So, Fair-'cloff' but a bit of a softer 'o'. In between o and u... You know what I mean?

Knew someone with the last name Clough and he pronounced it "cluff" so I'll go with "fair-cluff."

Well, if the resident Englishman (the person I'm talking about comes from Lancaster) and someone acquainted to at least one Clough say it's Cluff, then I guess I'll adopt this pronunciation.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one confused by all this though, and I'm not the only to think it's Clow/Chloe :p

You're officially TA's living guide to the UK! So, what's Cape Town like? :p

(Seriously, though: Edinburgh, Lancaster, London... where else?)

The UK is little, so I've been to lots of places. I can only say I've "lived" in a few places though.

And while I have been to South Africa, I must say, with disappointment, that I never made it to Cape Town. This was our road trip (and then we drove right back again - around 3700km on the full return trip, and it was amazing):

I think he meant that the person with the name Fairclough comes from Lancaster.
