I just love that I can come to TA after a few months, open a thread, and sure enough there is the word "cretin" staring at me. Warm fuzzies.

Guys. Ok I've actually read this thread and you guys need to come out of being in denial.

China get WAY more for its money. Its defence budget while it has been increasing is much much smaller than the USs but they actually have been blooming. Their new generation jet while larger performs better than the US f-35, f-35 US new generation jet under performs the Chinese J-20/30.

Chinese missiles which are quite advanced including their nuclear systems likely can do a lot of damage to US naval forces. Any type of exchange would likely be devestating though.

The US has trillions of debt, much of it owned by China, get that China owns the US economy. While American invests in Chinas economy. It is a symbiotic relationship.

Now ask what does China buy from the US, obviously not as much as the US buys from China because China saves all that money. Now further china can provide for the basic needs of its citizens for much less than the US.

China has taken leaps and bounds over the past decade and itis positioned to overtake the US economically, technologically and perhaps in other ways over the next decade. It has continued to gear up. It is a tremendous force. Its "middle class" has also be growing. China is buying assets around the world. Including real estate in the US, firms globally, they have massive investment funds, they buy resources around the world.

They have "the largest military" in the world. Their weapons have also been expanding. They often have equipment on par with Russia, their space program is rising. It is one of the big 5. China has tremendous power. Even India has taken a step back. While China has exterted itself in the Pacific.

I think there is a just a lot of American pride here but lets be clear any type of war between the two would be devestating. America couldn't even succesffully take out a sub government in Afghanistan, they have no hope whatsoever of in any way containing China. The US meanwhile is in perhaps equal or greater lockdown mode as China, the US monitors the internet, they have public security in DHS all over the country.

As much as you like to think it American has changed a lot over the last 10 years, it is much more open that things have really been locked down. China meanwhile has liberalized or appeared to liberalize itself somewhat. In many ways china was 50 years behind the US 20 ears ago, now it is in the 80's or 90's. within the next 10 years it will surpas the US its human resource is tremendous.

The big thing is, things are changing both China and Russia are due to run out of Oil in the next 10-20 years. China will be forced to import more oil and it imports a lot, it is really going to get into the same trap as Japan. Or it will innovate more. Btw china is a way more efficint country than the US, aside from their highways.

last time i checked, china owned about 12%. that isn't "much", nor does it equate to china "owning" the US economy. just simplistic, poorly-understood bollocks from people that read the occasional headline.

8.1% as of last year.
Lews
acillarr you're wrong on pretty much every count. I'd explain in detail why, but it.

yourself. You have nothing to base anything on. I'm here, eating the rice and hairy vag's. I'm in a city where 25% of all the PhD grads reside. They still on the floor and can't drive. Knowing how to use chopsticks and having slanted eyes because of tight at birth qualifies you for nothing more than having a small wang chung.

Once again, you don't see how the majority of them live. Think before you in public chink.
