Also, it seems weird, but I always loved waiting in that line for the bathroom. Right on the dancefloor...ing best.

let me tell you, there will always be a scene - I used to feel that I missed "everything" back in the day [early 90's]. It's bull, enjoy your time now.

Someone needs to revive the afterhours scene in Toronto. CZ doesn't count. That place has gone to the dogs.

What I really liked about that place was that there was no DJ worshiping. The DJ booth was tucked into the corner and there was no flashy lights pointed anywhere.. You can see from the photos people are dancing with friends all over the place, the way it's supposed to be..

By far the best setups to make for a thick-vibed party = dancefloor as centre of attention, rather than the DJ.

Stereo's original booth was up in the corner, not the center of attention. I liked it that way for the same reason. Many DJs complained that it removed them from the crowd and made it hard to connect though.

There will always be a scene to some degree, but there are undeniably times when it is stronger and more vibrant. I feel very lucky to have been around when I was, especially to have seen Stereo from 2000-04.

There is always a scene and I'm not doubting it, I'm just saying it's weak. Toronto is so beyond generic right now. For the most part it's either big name mainstream or the same ass tech house every single night. We keep getting the same names over and over again in this city. I know for a fact I'm not the only one who thinks this too.

You would be correct. Toronto has a very particular sound these days, especially when it comes to the likes of Techno and House. The scene here used to have a lot more 'grit' to it, reflective of the DIY mentality that caused most parties of those days to come about. Now that nearly everything is in licensed venues, with corporate sponsorship, mass marketing via social media and so on, it's become much more polished, as well as much cleaner and safer (in more than one sense of the word). To some, this is a godsend - to others, it's cryin' shame. I'm now to the point where I only go out maybe once or twice a year, so it doesn't really affect me one way or the other - but if I had to chose, I'd take raw and unpredictable over its opposite any day.
