Arghh.
This post could be epic in length - but I'll keep it short.
I'm running off a 56k modem in South Africa, local telephone calls are not free - so I pay for the internet usage.
I WANT SOMETHING FASTER - bugger. supposedly ADSL in Oct or so (but it'll be expensive).
what linea are everybody running off here?

| cable. it'll cost ya umm...$40 dollars canadian. that's about 18 pounds in the UK. |

| I know what you mean...I was at my friends place and I found the new latest tiesto bootleg and argghhh....I counldn't download 150 megs on 56k....I was a bitter man :) I have cable and it's awsome...(uncapped) |

University LAN T1 line.. hehehe
around 500kb/s but can go crazy at times when not many users are on the network.. speed up to about 1.5MB/s

ckerr, a buddy of mine's been tryin' to uncap his modem and i gave him my uncapper but it ain't working. how'd ya do yours? |

| ahhh. i have cable which i dont think im paying for not to mention cable tv i know im not paying for either. ehehheee. damn cable company lost our records somehow i think:) but if i was paying for it its $50 a month and very well worth it. |

There is no way in hell I could deal with a modem connection after being on cable....it's definitely worth the $40 a month. I networked the 2 computers in my house, so both of them have it....ding ding ding!
Definitely go with Dsl if you can....it's soooo worth it, especially when you can download a full mix in 10 min or so!

| I've got a cable....and for just the internet usage...not even the t.v. cable bill...it's $30 bucks a month....noy to bad considering some DSL around here is $40. |

| It would most likely be cable at a school, so they can network them all together. |
